Frog and Toad Character Costumes

Greetings!

Frog and Toad in the Library? All ages are welcome to visit the Library on Saturday December 20th between 2-4pm to get photos with Frog and Toad. Library staff are excited for these amphibians to make the journey here to Monterey.

As a young reader, Frog and Toad were one of the books that I returned to. The illustration style and color palette along with the lessons in friendship and companionship were endearing. There are certain books that resonate in childhood, and the Frog and Toad series are still reaching new audiences 50 years later~!

I hope this holiday season that folks can welcome the lessons of Frog & Toad into their lives. Share with your best friends, learn from small lessons throughout our lives, be kind, and share joy and humor with others.

So why are Frog and Toad coming to visit the library? Well, they decided that Monterey was a pretty swell place, and we tend to agree. They thought they might bring a few smiles to kids of all ages, and we are happy to oblige. Have a wonderful season y'all!

Warmly,

Brian

STORYBOOK MOMENTS WITH FROG AND TOAD

Loved by generations, Frog and Toad share heartwarming stories of

friendship, adventure, and discovery. Frog, being the eternal

optimist, perfectly balances Toad, the anxious and grumpy friend

in Arnold Lobel’s beloved children’s books.

Hop on over to the library this week and discover a Frog and Toad

themed craft bag! Inside you’ll find all the pieces for a cozy art

adventure, just like the ones Frog and Toad share together.

TIS' THE SEASON

tree_decorations.jpg

for some holiday fun facts! Did you know...

-Snowflakes aren’t just symmetrical! There

are actually 35 general categories of

shapes scientists use to classify them

and no one snowflake is alike!

-Candy canes have a pretty fascinating story. They started as white sugar sticks. The festive red stripes were not added till several centuries later.

-“Jingle Bells" was the first song broadcast from space in 1965 but not without a laugh first. Astronauts pranked Mission Control staff, pretending to have spotted a UFO before they played the song.
