Greetings!
Summer is in full swing, and the library has been hosting a variety of programs for all ages. With that, you'll see that we have a variety of programs highlighting our theme of "Level Up at Your Library."
Games in the library? To me it stems from the question "how do you create a community hub, and less of a transactional space?" It's part of a shift towards offering interactive services at the library, while still providing the books, historic resources, services, and quiet spaces that you need. For Monterey Public Library, this means collaborative staff that ask the question "how might we..." and we can be flexible and find the best way to meet our community needs.
People learn in different methods, so it's important that we find ways to create learning, reading, and self-guided exploration at our library! To me, the goal is to keep our community brains active and engaged. Our Puzzle Exchange is a great (and free!) way to find a new puzzle. Bring one and take one...don't have one to donate? That's OK! Someone else can bring two. Let's keep the community spirit of a sharing economy with our neighbors moving forward.
Next time you are in the library, visit our Puzzle Exchange, pick up a Summer Reading game board, or if you have a younger one - check out the game room. The Summer Reading game is in full-swing and available for all ages; play for a chance to win cool prizes and get a free book.
Let us know what else you'd like to see from your library and keep learning & exploring!
Warmly,
Brian
