Hello Maryland AMTA Members, especially MoCo Members.
The Montgomery County Council met today and approved Executive Order 87-10 which is modifying the directives from June and allows some reopenings.
Massage Services may open with limitations at noon on August 5, 2020. This includes RMPs and all massage businesses in Montgomery County.
- Gloves and PPE are required by this order.
- One customer per 200 square feet of service space - this may allow for only partial reopenings
- One customer in waiting area at any time
- Follow state's Best Practices Guidelines
- All RMPs and LMTs must also remember that we are ethically required to follow appropriate COVID-19 screening, cleaning, and PPE practices, and the Maryland Board of Massage Therapy Examiners and the Health Department have some direction on the website.
- Face coverings are required by another section of the order for therapists, practitioners, staff, and clients.
Personal Services. i.Hair salons, barbershops, and establishments that provide tanning, tattoo, waxing, threading, electrolysis, cryotherapy, facial and other skin services, massage, and nail technician services (“Personal Services Establishments”) may open, by appointment only, provided the following physical precautions are met and followed:
- all staff are required to wear gloves, and any other Personal Protective Equipment (“PPE”) as appropriate to their workplace and provided service;
- limit of 1 customer for every 200 sq. ft of service delivery space;
- limit of 1 customer in a waiting area at a time, other customers waiting for appointments must wait outside the Personal Services Establishments;
- follow the State’s Best Practices for Personal Service Establishments as amended from time to time.
