50+ Volunteer Network is BACK!

The Volunteer Center's 50+ Volunteer Network is ready to help you find your next volunteer opportunity! We've spent the last year updating our program to ensure you have the best experience possible.

The 50+ Volunteer Network offers personal consultations to help volunteers aged 50 and older discover meaningful volunteer opportunities with local organizations. This program is a valuable resource for volunteers who want to give back to the community by using their lifetime of professional and personal experiences. It is easy to do! Just complete the online form on the MontgomeryServes site to get started.

Make a Difference: Student Service Learning

Tune in to the September edition of Make a Difference to get the latest updates on SSL requirements from Donna Kleffman, instructional specialist and SSL coordinator for MCPS (pictured below). The show, which is now airing on Montgomery County's cable channel, will help you get started on your SSL plan!

This episode was Sandy Smith's final interview for the monthly show. View all of the episodes on the Montgomery County Cable TV channel.

Students! Now is a great time to plan to earn the 75 (seventy-five!) SSL hours required for graduation from Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). The Volunteer Center partners with MCPS and includes volunteer organizations and opportunities on the Montgomery Serves website that meet SSL requirements. These are all marked with the graduation cap logo shown above. You can use filters to search by minimum age, zip code, and more! For more information, go to the Volunteer Center SSL web page and the MCPS SSL website.

Spotlight On: The Civic Circle

The Civic Circle's vision is that all the nation's children should know and embrace their civic rights and responsibilities. Their mission is to bring civic values like media literacy, community service and voting alive for young children through music and drama.

Civic Circle volunteers help get young kids excited about and engaged in democracy through story and song. Volunteers serve as guest speakers at after-school workshops, volunteering at events and more.

Find out more at The Civic Circle's page on the MontgomeryServes website.
