Counting Down to the Celebration!

The 2026 Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks is just hours away! Join the community for an entertaining evening filled with live music, delicious food, games, and a spectacular fireworks finale. This year features a unique form of entertainment – revolutionary reenactors! From 6:00 to 6:45, attendees can shake hands and take photos with revolutionary soldiers, including Generals Washington and Rochambeau on horseback. 

Free parking for the event is available at Skillman Park and Upper Middle School with free shuttle service to bring attendees to and from the school parking lot. Drivers can also drop-off and pick-up attendees using the designated route.

Drivers are encouraged to watch the video created by the Department of Parks and Recreation to familiarize themselves with the route prior to attending. See you there!

Montgomery Saves Lives

Thank you to everyone who helped make last Sunday’s blood drive a tremendous success! A special thank you goes out to the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign and Health Department for hosting the event in partnership with MMNA (North East Chapter) and American Red Cross.

We are honored to announce that 64 units of blood were collected during the drive. This is an incredible achievement that has the potential to save up to 192 lives! As our blood drive continues to grow each year, we see donation totals steadily increase and our community become stronger. Thank you for your contribution. We look forward to hosting more events to promote health and community connections!

Register for Camps

The Montgomery Rec N Crew Summer Camp begins next week! The six-week camp invites students entering first through sixth grade to enjoy outdoor, summer activities. Students entering seventh through ninth grade are invited to apply to the Rising Leaders program to assist with the Rec N Crew Camp.

There have been delays in recycling collection operations by Somerset County due to staffing and equipment shortages. While these unforeseen challenges have affected the timing of some collections, the county is committed to completing all scheduled biweekly curbside services. Residents should leave their recyclables at the curb and the remaining items will be collected as soon as possible. The township is excited to announce the upcoming opening of the long-awaited loop roads! Once the final roads are constructed later this summer, drivers will no longer be able to make left turns directly from Route 206 onto Route 518. Instead, motorists will use the new loop roads to access Route 518. The Montgomery Engineering Department has created an interactive map of the new traffic pattern to help motorists visualize the changes before getting on the road.
