Buddy's Wrecker Service celebrates 60 Years of business in Obion County!
In 1963, Buddy's started out as an ESSO full service gas station on the corner of 1st Street and Reelfoot Avenue. They are now in two buildings at 118 Barham Road with the auto shop being in one building with the wrecker service in the other.

American Advertising Federation of West Tennessee
American Advertising Federation held its August meeting at the Dyersburg Chamber of Commerce. The program featured author, blogger, physical therapist and podcaster Marsh Naidoo. Naidoo is the host of the popular podcast, “Raising Kellan.” The host of the program, Merry Brown, is a writer, speaker, mediator, philosopher and small business owner who is the host of the podcast “Conflict Managed.”

Naidoo’s son, Kellan, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy in 2013. In Marsh’s blog and podcast she shares her journey negotiating the uncharted territory of raising a child with developmental delay. To learn more about her son and their story, click here.
Moffatt deservedly gets hero's welcome at UC game before heading back to NFL
Jovante Moffatt spent a little time at one of his favorite places Friday night before heading off to his dream job.
 
The former three-sport star at Union City High School, who will begin his fourth season in the National Football League this week, was in attendance at War Memorial Stadium to see most of the Golden Tornadoes’ 20-7 victory over Dyer County.
 
A smiling Moffatt – the only UCHS football player to make it professionally – was greeted by numerous fans and well-wishers and signed countless autographs before and during the game.


Peppy's Car Wash Supports Local Teachers with Over $12,000 in Gift Cards for Back-to-School
Peppy's Car Wash, a new name in Union City's automotive car care industry, has embarked on a heartwarming initiative to support the local community's educators as part of their Grand-Opening. In a remarkable show of appreciation for their dedication to shaping young minds, Peppy's Car Wash gifted local area teachers with over $12,000 in gift cards during the first week back to school.

As the new academic year kicks off, Peppy's Car Wash recognizes the vital role that teachers play in shaping the future of the community. "We believe that teachers are the unsung heroes of our community," said Isiah Sneed, General Manager of Peppy's Car Wash. "Their dedication and commitment to nurturing young minds deserve our utmost appreciation. Our 'Back-to-School Giveback' is a small token of our gratitude for the significant impact they make in shaping the future generations."

During the first week of school, over 500 teachers from various local schools received free wash gift cards. The collective value of the gift cards surpassed $12,000, reflecting Peppy's Car Wash's commitment to supporting educators in Union City.

Obion County recently recognized as the 14th out of 95 Tennessee counties with the highest concentration of small businesses.

NWTN Workforce Board partners with local Sheriff's Department and UTCIS.

This training offered a Manufacturing Skills Bootcamp and OSHA 10 General Industry courses to inmates at five local county jails. The goal of the program is to help justice-involved Tennesseans secure jobs that pay livable wages to sustain their families.

SEDC Elects New Directors and Officers

The Southern Economic Development Council (SEDC), North America’s oldest and largest regional economic development association, will welcome newly elected leaders to the 17-state Board of Directors in 2024. Lindsay Frilling has been elected as the Tennessee Alternate Director.
SBA Offers Disaster Assistance to Businesses and Residents of Obion County, Tennessee Affected by the Recent Floods
Tennessee businesses and residents affected by the August 3-4 floods in Obion County, Tennessee are eligible to apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration, SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman announced.
To assist businesses and residents affected by the disaster, the SBA will open a Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) at the Obion County Public Library at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 in Union City, Tennessee. Permanently closing on Friday, Sept. 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The WestTeach program allows teachers to gain insight into the economic needs and opportunities in West Tennessee, build links with industry and community leaders and get an out of the classroom view of students’ lives from community child resource agents.
