New Program from Raven Interpretive

The Ecology of the North Woods

Thursday, June 3rd

6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Ham Room

In this slide/lecture program, we will take an ecological look at Summer in the North Woods. Our adventure begins at the summit of Mount Washington, where man has been able to adapt to survive some of the most severe weather ever recorded. In this land above the treeline, we'll witness the miraculous survival of rare and intriguing alpine flora, bravely enduring the harsh Arctic-like conditions. We'll then descend into the forest and valleys below to look at some of the wildlife that calls New Hampshire home.

Throughout this program, we'll be exploring the strategies adopted by various species to survive the dramatic changes in New England's seasons. We'll also examine how the northern environment shapes the behavior and characteristics of birds and mammals. The scenic northern forests will serve as our backdrop as we take this fascinating closer look at Summer, inviting you to be an active participant in this learning journey.

For more information and to learn how you can contribute to preserving these natural wonders, check out their website: Raven Interpretive Programs – Entertaining Education Naturally. (ravenprograms.com)

Darker Than You Know is a powerful, eye-opening reminder that the darkest evils often hide behind the most legitimate facades. It sheds light on the urgent and complex fight against human trafficking, a battle that demands not only physical courage but also moral conviction.

The novel serves not only as a compelling thriller but also as a wake-up call about the reality of human trafficking in our modern, interconnected world. Its blend of technical accuracy, tactical authenticity, and moral complexity will appeal to readers of Tom Clancy, Daniel Silva, and Brad Thor, while offering unique insights into one of today's most pressing criminal enterprises.

Edward will share valuable tips on self-care when doing work that involves confronting horrific realities, and without spoilers of the novel, will dive deep into the book's themes. Book Signing and a Q&A after the presentation. Feel free to ask questions and share thoughts.

All book proceeds go to Starting Point, a vital organization supporting survivors. Starting Point provides free and confidential services for victims of domestic and sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at (800) 336 - 3795. Starting Point | Services for Victims of Domestic & Sexual Violence

A novel on the true story of the glamour icon and scientist Hedy Lamarr, whose groundbreaking invention revolutionized modern communication. “We believe the one who has power. He is the one who gets to write the story. So when you study history, you must ask yourself, Whose story am I missing? Whose voice was suppressed so that this voice could come forth? Once you have figured that out, you must find that story too. From there, you get a clearer, yet still imperfect, picture.”
