Monthly Club Update

September, 2024

Ohhh, here comes FALL!

Art Credit: Fab Funky at Great Big Canvas!

Short Update this Month!

First, the important stuff

Let's keep our members who are in the path of Hurricane Helene in our best thoughts and prayers.

I'm watching images and news of folks in the affected areas come in tonight, and it is truly devastating. Upholding all who are in the path of danger, and hoping you all pull through safely!

Welcome to New Board Members!

Four new members are now serving on the BHCA Board:

Jean Dietrich, 2nd Vice President

Lora Megli, Board Member

Kim Trumbull, Board Member

Sue Frischmann, Board Member

Sue is filling the balance of Sandi Wittenberg's term as Board member due to Sandi's election as Corresponding Secretary.

Corrections and Additions to the Nationals 2024 Wrap Up Constant Contact

Well, oops...

1. I omitted FC Solow CJ On the Right Track SHH (Murray) from the list of HPT Qualifiers. My apologies to owner Lisa Steele.

2. I listed Sharon Hall's Rosie (Castlehill's HE Rosie's the Riveter UDX BN RN2 RAE2 SWM SHDNE SHDA TKP CGCA FITS) as having earned Rally High Combined. That was wrong. She actually earned Triple High Combined.

3. I didn't have the list at the time, but I want to add my very sincere thanks to the set up crew for the Agility Trial on Wednesday. These brave souls showed up EARLY to haul, tote and set up for the trial so that it could run on time: Julie Rees, Rob Rees, Tim Martinez, Dana Skaff, Carolee Brown, Avi Sebag, Lisa Steele and Cheri Feldhausen. Our all-breed guests were still talking about what a great trial it was when they saw Agility Committee Chair Karin King at the next trial!

4. If you're still enjoying that beautiful embroidered welcome bag received from Nationals, and counting the calories from the logo cookies and ringside treats, please thank Sukey Shor, who donated both!

We Run on Volunteers!

Are you feeling a rush of fall energy? We're still looking for volunteers for important positions:

  • A "mover and shaker" who can help support the quarterly zoom educational steering committee to make sure they (1) schedule those zooms!; and (2) get the word out to our membership about upcoming programs. Would you be a good convener for this group? If you might be interested, let's talk!

  • We're looking to give our tireless Melinda Brown, who has been serving as Canine Legislative Liaison, a break. She has a well-developed system for getting word out to club liaisons on breaking legislative issues. This is a great way to stand up to animal-rights forces that are actively working against our interests as dog fanciers and dog breeders. Interested? Let us know!

More to come in October!! Sylvie
