Sandy Neck Sunrise

Morning’s Song

Stepping into the morning sunrise,

I leave behind the veil of night.

The sun greets my sleepy eyes,

as the world unfolds before my sight.

The dew freshly coats the waiting ground

with kisses from the loving sky.

As the orchestra of creation sounds,

it’s choir of birds sings their lullaby.

What gifts does this morning bring,

will love win the day?

Closer to the Lord I will tightly cling,

till we meet again to pray.

Every day leaves its footprints

on the heart and on the mind.

And every man his dreams spent,

searching for the treasures the day has left behind.

It’s Time for Climate Collaboration

More than 700 people crowded into Barnstable High School’ s Performing Arts Center on Monday, June 12, for an evening with climate leaders and visionaries. The event, sponsored by the Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative, featured Bill McKibben, founder of 350.org and Third Act; Søren Hermansen, community energy leader and CEO of the Samsø Energy Academy in Denmark; and Melissa Hoffer, the first-in-the-nation state climate chief under Governor Maura Healey. Each of the three keynote speakers are accomplished leaders in the fight to address and mitigate climate change and build adaptive resilience to its impact on our world. They shared their views on what citizens and local organizations – like the Faith Communities Environmental Network – can do right here on Cape Cod to address the causes and effects of climate change. St. Mary’s was represented by Dorothy Savarese, President of the Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative, who chaired the gathering. A number of those in the audience were members of

St. Mary’s as well. If you would like to know more about climate change and the work of the

Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative, contact Dorothy Savarese or Pastor Russ.

they know they shall never sit in."

Garden Committee News

The Summer is here. All the rain has things looking lush and green. The weeds are thriving too and we could really use a big work party. Everyone is busy this time of year so I am going to post a Work Wish List below.

  • Driveway weeding and spraying (with concentrated vinegar)
  • Trimming our privet hedge out front
  • Clean up, pruning weeding in memorial garden
  • Vegetable /cutting garden weeding
  • Weeding the Rock Garden and the Pet Memorial Garden

We were thrilled with the extra gardening help we got from from Princi and Sons Detailed landscaping at the end of May. They will be coming back again in July to help support our volunteer gardeners. Donations directed towards the Garden Budget are always welcome to help us invest in the care and maintenance of these beautiful gardens. Please enjoy these scenes from our beautiful church campus and gardens.
