Leaf Pickup & Yard Waste
Spring leaf pickup will begin Monday, April 27 and continue until Friday, May 15. Leaves must be placed un-bagged on the treebank and be free of debris such as rocks, stumps, lumber, and other yard waste. Property owner may be invoiced for damages to City equipment due to contaminated leaf piles. During leaf pickup, please be certain that leaves are accessible by keeping vehicles and trailers away from leaf piles designated for pick-up.
Leaf Collection occurs within designated geographical areas that correspond to refuse collection routes. The day your garbage is scheduled to be collected (see "2026 Baraboo Refuse Calendar" below), is the day we will collect your leaves with the leaf vac. This rotation will continue until May 15. Fall leaf collection will begin Monday, October 26, and continue until Wednesday, November 25 (weather permitting).
This service is intended purely for leaf pick-up. Our leaf vacs are incapable of picking up yard waste such as grass clippings, potted plants, pumpkins, and garden materials. The City does not collect those materials. Yard waste materials must be dropped off at the City of Baraboo Compost Site located off at 407 Briar Street behind the old Public Works Garage.
At no time may leaves, grass clippings, brush, or other yard waste be deposited on the street or alley.
Not only does it impact ground water and surface water quality, it is also prohibited by Ordinance 8.15.
