Congratulations to our first Business Recognition Program awardee

On Tuesday, August 30th, Mayor Engler and City Council recognized the Latino Market and Grill as the City's very first Business Recognition Program awardee.

Located at 711 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., the Latino Market and Grill has been a staple in Thousand Oaks for more than three decades. Over the years, they have expanded their grocery and restaurant services across four suites of commercial space in 7 Oaks Plaza. They have also grown to 15-20 employees.

"The Latino Market and Grill's story embodies the spirit of this award perfectly. It's a story of vision and longevity; of growth and resilience. We appreciate the cultural enrichment they bring to our City," Mayor Engler remarks.

Walking through the doors of the Latino Market and Grill is a transportive experience. “We provide a place of comfort and familiarity for those needing a brief touchpoint with their Latin heritage. For others who simply love Latin culture, foods and flavors, we provide a unique cultural experience right here in their own backyard. We welcome all,” owner Michelle Ahumada says.

City awarded $27 million in Homekey funds

The City is pleased to announce an award of $27 million in state grant funding to convert the Quality Inn & Suites motel into 77 units of permanent supportive housing for the chronically homeless. Addressing homelessness has been a consistent City Council priority. The state’s Homekey program has offered a rare opportunity to leverage substantial resources to meet this challenge in our community.
