Happy Holidays to All

Hello to all of our members and friends

It's been a while since our last newsletter and we apologize. Things got a bit busy for some of our volunteers. Thank you for understanding. The dues have been coming in steady since the mailing of the envelopes. Our raffle was, as always, a big success and resulted in 3 very happy people! Those phone calls are always enjoyable to make. Thank you to all who bought or sold tickets this year.

We wish all of you a very merry season and wonderful 2024!!!!!!

We found these lovely winter scenes in our files and thought you'd enjoy them.

Written on the back of this next photo states "Getting to work when winter snows us in" and "on the way to Seminary". It lists the Maryknoll Sisters: Sr. Helen Agnes behind the driver, Sr. Laurentis, Sr. Christine Marie, Sr. Eusebra, Sr. Bonface. Also written is John J. Grimley and gift of Flora Naar.

Jennie Fiorito and Her Partner 'Rosie the Riveter'

The museum was recently contacted by a local relative of one Jennie Fiorito. The Fiorito name is well known in the construction business, and also the family is a longtime supporter of the Ossining Historical Society Museum.

The request was to find information about her relative, who as a young woman like many of the area was employed at the GM Eastern Aircraft Division in North Tarrytown. She, along with her partner Rose Bonavita had set a record for riveting in 1943.

We found the following articles on the popular Fulton History website. The folks at Fulton History have scanned our microfilm reels of most of our newspaper collection and it is accessible to anyone with some time and patience to look up information. Go to: FultonHistory.com - it is free of charge.

James H. Rowe Carriage Company

One of our members sent us these two photos - spotted at local Muscoot Farm in Somers. If you happen to be visiting Muscoot, stop in and take a look. Also the Rowe buildings still exist, located at the cut-in on North Highland Avenue and Havell Street. Rowe expanded later on to the Main Street area as well. Thanks, Tom for sending in the photos!

The following article is from the Ossining Democratic Register, 1901 Illustrated Edition.
