For the next few months, I will be focusing on the many things that seem to be changing around us related to planning and investments.

Some changes are the result of the pandemic restrictions and some are due to new priorities.

However, change is the only certain thing and we must respond to that.
We must protect what's important.
We must adapt as necessary, to ensure we stay healthy in all ways.
We must provide support and assistance to others to ensure we are managing all these changes together.

This month, we start with managing our "health care". In particular, managing our mental health.

Tax Planning
Tax summaries have been sent, and we encourage you to double-check all receipts are in your possession before filing your tax return.
Remember, there can be multiple RRSP contribution slips if many contributions were made.
If you have a Non-registered account, then transactions are summarized on a T5008.

Recognizing there is more of the same here! More support for small businesses, and more debt being taken on. CFIB (Canadian Federation of Independent Business) indicates some of the right steps are being taken for independent businesses. Some of the other political parties don't think it's gone far enough. However, the amount of debt being taken on by our governments is something that will be around for a long time. Effective management and guidance will be critical for success.

Registered Accounts
Reminder: The trustee fees for all registered accounts (RRSP, RRIF, LRIF, LIRA) will be charged on June 3rd. Please note, the fee will be taken as instructed on your account, so it may be taken from the Assante account, or charged to your bank account.
