Pastor's Post

Members of First United Methodist Church, Killeen,

As we enter the month of November, in which we will celebrate Thanksgiving, this is the perfect time to offer our thanks to SEVERAL people who have done some incredible things on behalf of the church.

In August and in September, a few BRAVE soldiers worked the concessions for a concert at Baylor University. This first event was VERY taxing and long. The group returned home at 2:00 am (yes, AM)! Then they worked a concession stand for THREE Saturday, Baylor Bear game events. THEY WORKED HARD AND LONG!!! They were sweating, busy, nearly non-stop; and no doubt, walked off a few pounds. This was truly A LABOR OF LOVE on their behalf. They did not let “walkers,” “canes,” or anything else stop them! THEY WORKED! We owe them a HUGE display of our gratitude. They did this on BEHALF OF OUR CHURCH, to ensure we have what we need for “raising the roof” and other building projects for which we are raising money. Concession workers raised a total of $4,777.76. How about all those 7’s (seven is the number of completing and of perfection in God’s Kingdom)? Our time with Baylor Concessions is complete and has come to an end. We “tagged out.” The work was much more than some of our “seasoned” members are able to do for an entire football season. Yet, we were rooting for them, when they served; and we continue to be their CHEERLEADERS, after-the-fact. “Give me a “T’! Give me an ‘H’! Give me an “A”! Give me a "N"! Give me a “K”! Give me a “Y”! Give me an ‘O’! Give me a “U”! “What’s that spell?” “THANK YOU!”

We have completed A LOT of building projects and convey thank you to so many of our members. Many have asked that they remain anonymous. You know who you are:

The member(s) who donated for the windowsill to be fixed and carpet to be cleaned in the Conference Room.

The members who donated to have the projectors replaced (and those who helped to work on these: David Erickson and Jeff Bain)

The member who donated the funds for our police officers each Sunday.

EVERYONE WHO CONTRIBUTED TO RAISING THE ROOF and the member who helped us to make it to the TOP of our goal.

The Tote Bag "Fun" Raiser is dedicated to general funds.

- God Is Big Enough -

Everyone is invited to join Reverend Steve Ramsdell for the

God Is Big Enough Prayer Conference

We hope you’ll join us for the November 22nd God is Big Enough Event where we will center on the spiritual discipline of prayer.  We will separate sessions with a brief intermission. During the first session we will discuss the power of big prayers as we look at how to pray the biggest prayers possible effectively following the Biblical models of prayer.

Session 2 will lead us into the promise God has for each of us to guide us through the mountain tops and valleys of life. Our God is a guiding God and he will guild you and the Bible shows us the map.

Session 3 is all about how to apply your faith. Unapplied faith is of no value, but applied faith is where miracles happen!

There are free pamphlets provided for every participant that will help us put application to four prayers, path and faith.  The pamphlets will help us follow along as we learn something new in regard to our prayers.

We will also provide a free booklet Pastor Steve has written on Daniel’s patterns of prayer.

There will be an opportunity for a love offering but all materials are provided free of charge.

Come prepared to take notes, to laugh, to fellowship, To have fun and to learn something new about the power of prayer as we fill in a few blanks.

As a former pastor of FUMC of Killeen it will be my privilege to reunite with old friends and make new friends.   We’ll also open with short time of music provided by Gary Beard.

See you on the 22nd!
