Members of First United Methodist Church, Killeen,

This week, I want to honor and give thanks for EVERYONE actively working for the Killeen Independent School District, and to those who are currently supporting students in other systems/facilities. KISD has known some recent challenges; I want to ask everyone to be in prayer for school district employees and the students we serve. Many of us have served in KISD; and KISD has served many of our own personal children. So, today we give a special “thank you” to those employees who are retired and to those who are currently active. We also remember those who have served and are now deceased. Many retired employees have been asked to serve again!

As we embark on a new school year, please be in prayer for KISD’s Interim District Superintendent, Dr. King Davis, for Dept. Leaders, Administrative Staff/Staff Support, for employees in every capacity, and for ALL OF OUR KISD STUDENTS. 

If by chance you are/have been an employee of KISD or a different school system, and you are not listed, it is likely because we are not aware of this fact. Please feel free to contact the church office so that we can update your profile.

There will be an Installation Service for our new District Superintendent on Sunday, September 28th at 2:00, at First United Methodist Church, Killeen, with a reception to follow in the Gary and John Helen Purser Fellowship Hall. Everyone is invited. Bishop Ruben Saenz, Jr. will be present.

- Open Confirmation -

Back by request: Some of our older students were not able to attend Spring Confirmation. Parents inquired about the possibility of Fall Confirmation class. Adults who never attended Confirmation as youth, also expressed an interest in the Confirmation class. In response, high school age youth and adults are invited to attend our Open Confirmation class on Saturday, October 18, from 9-12. Attendees will learn about the Persons of the Godhead and their specific roles in our salvation, discipleship, Christian living, and evangelism. Attendees will also learn the history of our founding father, John Wesley, and of the "people called Methodists."

- Each One, Bring One Sunday -

- "Each One, Bring One" Sunday -

“Each One, Bring One” Sunday has been changed from August 17th to September 14th! So please plan to bring at least one guest to church.

- Raising the Roof -

We are still "Raising the Roof." As you can see, we are a little over a fourth of the way to our goal, so don't stop yet! We have several ongoing "fun" raisers devoted to this effort. We hope to meet our goal soon. Thank you for your generous gifts.

- Baylor Concessions "Fun"-Raiser -

The first "Fun-Raiser" is here! The Baylor Concessions stand will be opening for the season at the McLane Stadium in Waco. A sign-up sheet for volunteers to work the stand is available in the Welcome Center. We are looking for 12 volunteers at each of the seasons eight events, so please keep an ear out for a day you may be willing and able to lend a hand. These will be an all-day commitment!
