Pastor's Post

The Children and Youth Took-Over Almost Every Part of the Worship Service on Sunday, August 16th!

IT WAS FABULOUS!

First United Methodist Family,

What a GREAT time we had last Sunday, as the children and youth TOOK OVER the worship service! Youth Director, Yvonne Smith and parent leader, Lisa Belmonte served as the worship leaders. ALL other parts of the service were facilitated by the young people! The children and youth led in the Lord’s Prayer, served as the choir (complete with song motions), made the Offering Appeal, gave the Offertory Prayer, served as ushers, read Scripture, gave Sunday’s message AND sent us away with a challenging Benediction.

Joshua Belmonte did an amazing job bringing the powerful and humorous message about The Wise and the Foolish Builders. We just may have a budding pastor in our midst. We will watch and see. We DO know God is still building him upon a STRONG FOUNDATION…Jesus Christ! I cannot tell you how proud we are of our young people!!

Additionally, as our Children’s Ministry Leader, Jessica Bain, offered the Backpack Blessing, students flanked the entire front of the church!! Following the Backpack Blessing I called all current and former or retired KISD personnel (and those from other school systems) to come stand behind the students and current personnel. I offered a blessing over them for God’s leading, protection/safety, a spirit of support and excellence, for the coming school year.

Let me take a moment to say thank you to all who are or have served KISD in any capacity: Superintendent/Asst. Superintendent (and each of his support staff members), Curriculum Specialists, Principals, Asst. Principals, Campus Instructional Specialists, Campus Paraprofessionals and all other Instructional Aides/Specialists, Media Aides, Music/Athletic (PE) teachers/coaches, Office and other Clerical/Office Support, School Nutritionists, Nurses/Nursing Aides, OT/PT Personnel, Counselors, Social Workers, Psychology Personnel, Diagnosticians, Speech Therapists, Child-Specific Personnel, Communities in Schools, Human Resource Personnel, Resource Personnel, Custodial Support, Maintenance Personnel, Grounds Keepers, Police/Security Personnel, Technology Support, Transportation Personnel, All Exceptionality Support Personnel, Vocational Education Personnel, Behavioral Therapists and their Support Personnel, Communities in Schools Personnel, and Parent-Liaisons (If I have left ANY position out on this list, please accept my sincere apology. I tried to give as an exhaustive list as possible.)

May God bless you all! Have a GREAT SCHOOL YEAR!!!

We are continuing to build up our Youth Ministry. The Youth room is changing daily. We now have a brand new ping pong table. Come check it out! Yvonne Smith and Zel Heaney are looking for a team of members who will help add pizzaz and appeal to attract young people. Donations for this effort will be helpful. Thank you for investing in the future of First United Methodist Church, Killeen. Make donations to the church earmarked for children/youth ministry.
