- Pastor's Posting -

FUMC, Killeen extends a (belated welcome) to Sara Charlton. Sara began working as our part-time website manager (officially in Dec. 2024). She is in the office on Mondays and Tuesdays, from 9:00-12:00. The truth is, Sara works more hours than she is compensated for, often working from home, to ensure the website stays current. It took no time at all for Sara to become a valuable part of our team. She has updated our website in innovative ways. She has made the website more interactive. Old news is “archived,” and current news is front and center. She has input links that are user friendly, allowing viewers to navigate with ease, to the various ministries within the church. She highlights upcoming calendar events. She is solely responsible for posting announcements on the screens, in both the Welcome Center and in the Sanctuary. Sara is worth FAR more than we currently pay her; so, when you see her, give her a “HEARTY” thank-you and voice your appreciation.

Kudos go to the CDC Board members. They are (listed alphabetically): Ralph Cartmell, Carol Morgan, Elaine Passman, Cynthia Potvin and Becky Smith. The CDC Board members support the Child Development Center in a variety of ways. They encourage the staff by celebrating them during the holiday season. They often bring little “treats and appreciation goodies” to the staff. CDC Board members (and some of their spouses), were there to help when the CDC had a fun-filled Christmas Extravaganza for the children (complete with various activity stations and a visit/photo session with Santa). The CDC staff are also recognized and appreciated for the many things they do to ensure the children in their care grow and thrive. They do an excellent job. Our director, Michele Street and Assistant Director, Juanita Sims, have gone the extra mile to make sure the community knows we are here, open, and ready to receive and serve new students. Our enrollment is up, most classrooms are full (or nearly full); and we now have a rather lengthy “waiting list.” Parents (especially parents of infants) are willing to “wait” for a spot for their child to become available. We have even had some CDC parents become an active part of our church. Lastly, we offer great appreciation to Michelle Mock (crawler aide), and Adriana Gaskin (three-year-old class), who serve in our nursery area on Sunday mornings, when needed.

Bryan Charlton is still in need of a few men and women, to complete the twelve, who will sit with the Jesus character at the Living Last Supper. He is missing 6 disciples, 2 high priests, Caiaphas, Pilate's Wife, Roman Soldiers, Crowd members, and a light-weight Jesus who can be lifted. Please contact him and say you WANT to be part of this meaningful Maundy Thursday annual event. Yes, “Judas,” we need you too!!! Here is a cautionary word. The suffering and crucification of Jesus is depicted to be as close to reality as possible. Please be discerning with your children.

Blessings,
