- Pastor's Posting -

Happy Mother’s Day to the women who have invested in the lives of children, youth, and young adults, in any capacity. Our children truly are our most precious gifts from God. Scripture tells us,

“Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. (Psalms 127:3-5a, NIV).

Today, we acknowledge those who are experiencing the FIRST Mother’s Day following our mothers' passing. We acknowledge the loss, the sorrow, and the longing in our hearts for our beloved mothers. WE ARE PRAYING FOR YOU.

I also want to remind us of God’s “mothering/nurturing” qualities. Take comfort from GOD’S OWN WORDS to us :

As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem” (Isaiah 66:13).

"Can a woman forget the baby she nurses and forget her own child? She can, yet I will not forget you" (Isaiah 49:15).

The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18).

Let us find deep comfort in these verses. We must find a way to rejoice over the memories of good times and experiences of great joy with our mothers. Let us, likewise, find those “seasoned” women in the church, who have deep nurturing qualities and can offer us continued mothering and wisdom, no matter how old we may be.

Above all, remember, “GOD IS WITH US, EVEN TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH!”

- Charles Needs Help! -

Each Sunday, Charles ensures that our Welcome Center is welcoming!

Charles does more for FUMC then meets our eyes. Due to the recent departure of Maria Moreno, Charles is currently working seven days a week. This is not tenable! It will be helpful to give Charles Sunday's off until another employee is hired (if you have an employee recommendation, please contact the church). Charles' Sunday duties are relatively minor, but necessary. No major cleaning is required. Please consider signing up to volunteer to do the work Charles does on Sundays. We cannot afford to wear Charles out. It will be helpful if two people will volunteer to work together each Sunday. This is a list of what needs to be done:

  • Turn on lights (classroom, conference room, & sanctuary)
  • Plug in coffee & hot water pots
  • Fill water container with ice water
  • After service, empty coffee, hot water pots, & water container
  • Everything else can stay on tables until Monday
  • Lock all doors & turn out lights, including bathrooms
