Dear Friends,
Many kudos to Bev. Tuggle and Jim Nypen. Bev. keeps me well informed about those who need care or who are having surgery. She makes herself available to everyone, at all times. This enables me to be WHERE I need to be, WHEN I need to be there. Bev is also excellent at keeping up with birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Jim is instrumental in serving in the capacity of visiting and calling our home-centered members, assisted living residents, and rehabilitation center residents. Others of you make “care calls” and check on one another. Here are those whom I am aware of, who make calls and/or send cards to check on our members (ordered alphabetically): Martha Blevins, Anna Marie Charlton, Marlene Fey and Colleen Smith-Fey, Bob and Lisa Kure, John Helen Purser, Becky Smith, and Chuck Truesdale. If you make calls to check on various members, please let me know. We want to celebrate you and offer our thanks.
It is with a sense of sorrow that FUMC, Killeen has lost Wayne Bachus as our choir director/musician. Wayne has often expressed his dissatisfaction and frustrations about serving here. His recent words by text on (Feb. 8), indicate his serving in the current situation is no longer something he can do. I held an emergency SPRC meeting on Monday, Feb. 10, 2025. The committee agreed to accept Wayne’s text, desiring to no longer serve in his current situation. We are thankful that Wayne Bachus has shared his incredible gifts with us for almost two years. Our thoughts, prayers, and well wishes go with Wayne.
Many have asked if there is anyone who can play the organ. Deb Friddle informed me she CAN play the organ and will familiarize herself with our particular organ. She will not play on a weekly basis; however, CAN be available when an organist is specifically needed.
Julie McBride has agreed to play for both services, going forward. Welcome, Julie! Julie has given the other churches she plays for on Sundays, a two-week notice. Therefore, she will be away during the 10:00 hour for the next two weeks (she will continue to play for our 7:45 service as usual). On March 9, she will be away in observance of KISD’s spring break. Her anticipated “start” date is March 12 (Wednesday’s choir rehearsal). Her first Sunday playing for BOTH services will be March 16th.
What a fun Sunday we had last Sunday! The slide presentation and our joyful praise service were “beautiful to behold!” Thank you for sharing your scenic photographs.
I am looking forward to sharing the Lenten season with you. Please join us for Lenten Lessons, beginning Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
Blessings,
