MONTHLY NEWSLETTER

April 2023

Earth Month takes place during April every year. It’s a time to raise environmental awareness and create consciousness around the issues that affect mother nature during this time of crisis.

The region's environmental issues and impacts of climate change are addressed through the Essex County Regional Energy Plan and the City of Windsor's Environmental Master Plan. The City of Windsor is also investing in Windsor's urban greenery, tree coverage, and carbon capture efforts.

Transit Windsor's Affordable Pass Program

An article from the Tamarack Institute, Exploring the Intersections of Climate Change and Poverty, states people living with poverty are most impacted by the effects of climate change and outlines the opportunities to multi-solve climate issues and reduce poverty. Municipalities can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support vulnerable populations by providing affordable public transit for residents.

Transit Windsor's Affordable Pass Program (APP) is funded by Pathway to Potential. The program provides a 49% discount toward the purchase of a 30-Day bus pass for eligible residents of Windsor-Essex living with low income.
