News and Updates

Market basket measure logo from statistics canada

Statistics Canada will be updating the Market Basket Measure (MBM) threshold amounts in Fall 2025. P2P will update the income thresholds for the 2024 tax base year once this information becomes available. Residents and service providers can refer to the Eligibility Requirements website for updated income thresholds this fall.

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will also be issuing updated Canada Child Benefit (CCB) notices in early July. Residents will be able to use their updated CCB notice to apply for P2P subsidy programs once available.

Did You Know?

The Statistics Canada website includes a Dimensions of Poverty Hub that features a dashboard of indicators relevant to poverty.

In 2023, 10.2% of Canadians were living in poverty as measured by the Market Basket Measure (MBM). Statistics Canada also reported that 5.3% of Canadians were living in deep income poverty in 2023 (household income is below 75% of Canada's Official Poverty Line). The dashboard also indicates increases in food insecurity and low numeracy and literacy rates compared to the previous year.
