From across Minnesota and beyond, your kindness poured in—through handwritten notes, gentle words, big bear hugs, and moments of quiet presence. To everyone who reached out, who grieved alongside us, who honored the lives of Melissa, Mark, and Gilbert with love: thank you.
It’s often said that community is the family you choose. And in this moment, we have felt that truth deeply. Our Helping Paws community—made up of volunteers, graduates, donors, friends, and dog lovers—wrapped us in compassion when we needed it most. You reminded us that while we may not choose the hardships we face, we do get to choose how we respond—and who we walk, roll or wag with. We're grateful the Hortman family chose to walk with Helping Paws. They gave generously of their time, their hearts, and their home. In the coming days, we will share more about how we plan to honor their legacy.
