Welcome Vickie Nisbet
Vickie is our new (and first) Director of Development. She comes with over 18 years of experience in non-profit and social enterprise healthcare industry work. She has supported and led fundraising efforts for the United Way, American Red Cross and Via of the Lehigh Valley. Most recently, she was the Director of Community Relations with FamilyWize Community Service Partnership, where she identified and executed the partnerships strategy with national partners, including United Way, American Heart Association, Mental Health America, and many others.

Vickie says, "I'm excited to work towards a mission that I genuinely care about. The women that enter our programs want to be free from their past and they deserve to have the opportunity and time to build their lives again. I am honored to be a part of such a great organization."

When Vickie's not working, she and her husband, Bob, enjoy spending time with their growing family, which includes four grandchildren and their new puppy, Huey the Westie!
Thank You Players of the Stage
Recently, Players of the Stage (a non-profit youth theater company in the Lehigh Valley) held four performances of Pride and Prejudice. They do not charge for their events, but collect donations for various charities. We were lucky to be selected as the charity for this show. They raised $5,800 for us this week and have raised more than $20,000 overall for our organization.

We not only applaud them for their generous contributions over the years but for the outstanding job of the cast and crew in this year's performance.

THANK YOU to Players of the Stage and all those who donated!

Laura McNeely is the Studio Manager for Bloom Creative Studio in Bangor.

“I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work alongside and together with the women participating in this program. Together we create art, talk, tell stories, laugh, cry…”

Laura joined our Creative Studio in March of this year, where she doesn’t just manage the store front and studio, but, more importantly, where women leaving lives of addiction and violence directly benefit from Laura’s innate gifts of compassion and counsel during their time at this humble Bangor workshop whose window displays the motto, “Art Heals".

“As much fun as it is to create art, it is more rewarding to watch the growth in these women over the days, weeks, months. Steps forward, backwards, leaps forward – all part of the process of regaining themselves.”

Our work, and the hope of the women we serve, is heavily dependent on the financial contributions of the community, foundations, and sponsors. Please consider supporting Bloom with your tax-deductible gift.

In addition to one-time donations, we also offer four monthly giving options:

  • $29/Month - Wellness: Welcome Basket and Recreation
  • $59/Month - Safety: Group Counseling, Secure Housing, Medical, and Dental
  • $89/Month - Healing: Trauma-informed Staff, One-to-One Counseling
  • $150/Month: A Night of Sanctuary

As we welcome new survivors into our homes on a regular basis and are in constant need of restocking essential items for them, we have created an Amazon Wish List. The online list makes it easy for you to pick out items that our survivors need while staying in our homes and have them sent directly to Bloom. All donations are greatly appreciated.
Do you frequently shop on Amazon? Why not make a difference with each of your purchases? Simply choose "Truth For Women" (we are working to update this to Bloom) as your organization of choice on Amazon Smile and a portion of all purchases will be donated to Bloom.
