Data Privacy Week
To mark Data Privacy Week, which took place from January 27th to the 31st, 2025, P2P delivered two Lunch & Learn sessions to Windsor-Essex service providers and staff. The presentations included tips for protecting data privacy for individuals and clients and focused on P2P's transition to the Market Basket Measure (MBM) to determine eligibility for subsidy programs.
P2P also distributed approximately 3,500 inserts that featured information about Data Privacy week to residents and program participants across Windsor-Essex.

2025 Spay Neuter Voucher Program for Cats
The City of Windsor is pleased to once again offer its Spay/Neuter Voucher Program for cats. This year’s $20,000 program was approved by City Council in the 2025 operating budget.
260 vouchers will be issued, valued at $75.00 each, and will be available beginning Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. Please note: Vouchers will only be released by calling 311.
Vouchers for owned cats are reserved for low-income families, and a declaration of income will be required. A maximum of two vouchers per household will be issued where the cats are owned. For feral cat caregivers, a maximum of two vouchers per household will be issued with no income restrictions. In both cases, the applicant must be over the age of 18.

P2P provides funding towards free or low-cost universal programming activities, which all community members are able to participate in regardless of their financial status.
Beginning in October 2024, the Town of Amherstburg’s Recreation Department has been offering Family Turf Time, a drop-in program running every Saturday evening at Libro Centre between 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Weekly drop-in beginner and public skating programs are also being offered. To date, more than 1,100 residents have participated in the drop-in programs.

AFFORDABLE RECREATION
The After School Program is offered by the City of Windsor with funding through an Ontario Grant, and support through Pathway to Potential. The program is available at zero cost for school-aged students between kindergarten to Grade 8 who are living in low-income. Participants must go through an approval process for free spots in the program.
The program provides participants with homework assistance, crafts, active programming, literacy centers, career days and daily nutritious snacks.
The program is offered at the following recreation centers: Adie Knox Herman Recreation Complex, Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex, Forest Glade Community Centre, Gino and Liz Marcus Community Complex and Windsor Water World. In addition, The Optimist Community Centre offers a paid After School Program.

CONNECTING NEIGHBOURHOODS
Five neighbourhoods (known as Social Planning Districts) across Windsor-Essex experiencing economic hardship and reduced quality of life have been identified for P2P social investments between 2025 and 2028.

Leamington Transit Update

Transit Windsor Update
Starting March 31, 2025, Transit Windsor is eliminating paper tickets as acceptable fare media: This transition reflects a broader move towards modernizing public transportation, enhancing efficiency, and reducing environmental impact. Commuters will need to adapt by using smart cards, which promises to streamline the boarding process. This shift not only aligns with global sustainability goals by minimizing paper waste but also offers enhanced security and tracking capabilities, ensuring a more seamless travel experience.
As the deadline approaches, Transit Windsor encourages you to bring in your paper tickets to the Windsor International Transit Terminal (300 Chatham St. W.) in exchange for a smart ride card. The exchange must happen prior to March 31, 2025.

The Market Basket Measure (MBM) is Canada's official measure of poverty. It is based on a basket of goods and services meant to represent a modest, basic standard of living in Canada.
Statistics Canada calculates the cost of the food component of the basket using Health Canada’s most recent National Nutritious Food Basket, which is a list of foods meant to represent a healthy diet, including vegetables and fruit, protein foods, whole grains, and unsaturated fats.
