Community Spotlight:

Town of Kingsville's Play in the Park

Funded by Pathway to Potential (P2P), the Town of Kingsville’s Recreation Department offers “Play in the Park” - a free outdoor recreation program located in high-priority neighbourhoods in Kingsville. While the program focuses on increasing access for residents in these areas, it is open to all community members. Running from May to August, Play in the Park encourages participants to stay active, develop new skills and connect with others in their community.

"Walk At" Series To encourage people to get out and walk this June, Town of Kingsville staff will be posted at local trails and parks. They will enter participant names and phone numbers into a raffle. The more times you attend, the more times you are entered to win! AFFORDABLE RECREATION

The Recreation Assistance Program provides affordable recreational, artistic and cultural opportunities for Windsor-Essex residents living in low-income households. The program includes the 90% Recreation Discount, Targeted Initiatives, Third-Party Partnerships and Universal Programs.

It is offered by municipal Recreation departments across Windsor-Essex County in partnership with Pathway to Potential. To learn more about the Recreation Assistance Program, please visit pathwaytopotential.ca.

CONNECTING NEIGHBOURHOODS

We are excited to announce the launch of the Neighbourhoods Program! As part of this regional initiative, Neighbourhood Leads have now been identified for at-risk and priority neighbourhoods in both Windsor and Leamington.

The Neighbourhood Leads are:

Social Planning Districts (SPD) include:

W3 - Downtown Windsor East
W6 - West Windsor
E2 - North Leamington

Downtown Windsor Community Collaborative

Social Planning District (SPD) includes:

W5 - Downtown Windsor West

These Leads will play a key role in strengthening community connections, supporting local initiatives, and helping residents access resources and opportunities.

AFFORDABLE TRANSPORTATION

Affordable Pass Program Now Available for Leamington’s LTGO On-Demand Service

Access to affordable transit in Leamington has improved with the expansion of the Affordable Pass Program to include the LTGO On-Demand service. Eligible low-income residents can now apply for the program and purchase bus fares for the LTGO at a 50% discount (before taxes). The Affordable Pass Program is also available for the Leamington to Windsor (LTW) service. To learn more about the Affordable Pass Program in Leamington, please visit the Municipality of Leamington website. Residents can apply in-person at Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre or apply online.

Did You Know?

Statistics Canada has proposed changes to the 2023-base Market Basket Measure (MBM) of poverty after a third comprehensive review that started in June 2023. A new Communications Services component has been added to the basket that includes landline services, cell phone services and Internet access services.
