AFFORDABLE RECREATION

Through P2P’s Recreation Assistance Program, we are creating affordable recreation opportunities for priority populations.

In partnership with the Municipality of Leamington and Leamington District High School, new Canadian students will experience skating, a true Canadian tradition! Four sessions begin November 18, supported by P2P funding and the school’s efforts to provide helmets and skates.

CONNECTING NEIGHBOURHOODS

This fall, United Way, partnering with P2P through the Neighbourhoods Program, hosted clean-ups, community conversations and advisory committees in three priority neighbourhoods across Windsor and Leamington. Residents connected, shared resources and helped shape future action plans for their neighbourhood.

Did You Know?

Statistics Canada has refreshed its Dimensions of Poverty Hub this November. The hub tracks how Canada is doing on poverty reduction and includes the latest numbers based on the new 2023-base Market Basket Measure (MBM), Canada’s official way of measuring poverty.

The latest update brings several important changes. The 2023-MBM poverty estimates and thresholds have also been released, marking the end of the third comprehensive review of the MBM. The poverty thresholds are available from 2020 to current and show an increase in the poverty rate: from 6.8% in 2020 to 10.9% in 2023. Looking ahead, Statistics Canada will release poverty estimates for 2024 in Spring 2026, providing an even clearer picture of how poverty trends are changing over time.
