Fall Fun!
It's officially Fall and the season for pumpkin spice everything. As the days get shorter, wetter, and colder, get energized by experiencing the best of Lane County's autumnal beauty! Pull on your rain boots and visit your local park to kick through the colorful rustle of changing leaves, check out fungi large and small at Mt. Pisgah's Mushroom Festival, or hit up one or two of Lane County pumpkin patches!

September 15-October 15th marks National Hispanic Heritage month which honors the history, culture, and contributions of those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Exciting activities around the county will provide a number of ways to experience the art, culture and traditions of our Latinx community. Visit the LaneKids activity calendar for more details.
High Quality Pre-K for All Families
For many families, high-quality affordable child care and preschool is not within reach. The Early Learning Alliance , Lane County's Early Learning Hub, is working to change that. With guidance and funding from the State of Oregon's Early Learning Division, Hubs across the state are embarking on a community planning process in an effort to expand access to high quality early care and education to all families.

In partnership with the Early Learning Alliance, LaneKids is looking for parents who are willing to share their experiences and what they want and need for their children in child care and preschool. If you want to be a part of the work to make that happen, then this is your chance!

Please contact us at info@lanekids.org to join the movement.
Wondering What to Read?
Dreamers/Soñadores by Yuyi Morales
One of the most beautiful children’s books published last year; here award-winning author/illustrator Yuyi Morales’s vibrant pictures are full of life. A touching tale of finding home in a new place and voice in a new language, this is the author’s own story of immigrating to the United States. This book is a joy to read and perfect for sharing with preschool through elementary school aged children. Read it; then check out some of the titles from Morale’s list of favorites at the end of the book. For lovers of language, stories and libraries—an inspiration to find your voice and write your own family stories!

School Attendance Matters

When a student misses 18 days of school a year - that's just 2 days of school a month, each school month - they are considered "chronically absent." This loss in school time causes students to fall behind their peers academically and to be at risk for dropping out.

Having a morning routine and tracking attendance are two ways to maintain good attendance, right from Kindergarten. Check out other very helpful tips & resources at
