When I wrote my first newsletter, it was -15° F. with wind chill. Today, I am in Washington, DC for the 2025 AIA Leadership Summit and it is 62° F…What a completely different day. Having just talked with a few people in Michigan, I understand that the weather there is very similar to here. The sun is beaming into the hotel room, and we are having a wonderful conference. More on that in a moment…
But first…I would like to begin this newsletter with a heartfelt Congratulations to four wonderful AIA Michigan architects who were recently elevated to the AIA College of Fellows. For our younger architects and emerging professionals, this achievement is sort of…but not exactly, like receiving an academy award! All four are truly worthy of this significant honor…

The breadth and depth of their work is rich and varied. They illustrate why I have always been a part of AIA Michigan…I believe that our state’s AIA community is truly varied and unique. Building on my first newsletter, I like to think that our “mosaic” of members brings richness and depth to who we are as a community. We are stronger both through our differences and similarities…and together, we create a bigger picture of our state’s architectural community. All four of these architects are amazing and unique. But together, they illustrate and contribute to a more comprehensive vision of our discipline.
