The past month was full of wild weather from coast to coast. The only good thing to come out of it was that, being forced to spend time inside, I was able to get a lot of quilting done on my Quest quilt.
In the Studio, we've been having lots of fun planning for our Irish Heather fabric bundle and rearranging to make room for more fabric. We've had many visitors from across the country and overseas stopping by for Row by Row.
In this month's newsletter, you'll read about new fabric, the return of an old favorite and more along with Clue #5 of the Kyoto Mystery.

Malam VI
|
I am so excited to introduce my sixth collection of batiks with 39 new fabrics. As in the past, I have expanded on the existing batiks, this time 19 lights and 20 brights. I love the way they coordinate with my previous batik collections.
In creating batiks, it is very difficult to get really bright and really light prints without them becoming gray and muddy looking. I feel I've captured the almost impossible with this group with some of the lightest and some of the brightest batiks you will find anywhere.
In addition to offering these new batiks by the yard or in fat quarter bundles of the two groups,
lights and brights, I have also integrated them into four smaller
shaded bundles of 9-10 fabrics each.
You can see the entire
Malam VI collection
here.
Watch for next month's newsletter when we will unveil a new quilt featuring these batiks.

With the introduction of the new
Malam VI collection, don't forget that we keep in stock 227 batiks from my previous
Malam collections. With colors ranging from deep darks, vibrant mediums and soft lights paired with botanical or geometric patterns, you'll find these fabrics easy to use and perfect for many projects. The fabrics are also available in
fat quarter bundles,
pixie strips and
by the yard.

Crystal Star
|
An old favorite has returned but with new fabrics.
Crystal Star was designed to showcase all 150 fabrics in my Palette fabric collection. This quilt is an excellent color reference and is not only useful but a fun addition to any sewing room.
The quilt center, although complex-looking, uses pre-cut swatches and is paper pieced so the quilt is actually quite easy to assemble.

Quilters' Quest
|
With the earlier start to this year's Quilters' Quest, October 19-28, I made sure to begin working on my Quest quilt early. I chose sixty-degree diamonds for our Quest quilt. Not only is that shape one of my favorites but it is also very easy to cut from this year's Quest cuts... 2 1/2" strips.

Waikiki
|
With the theme "Anchors Aweigh" and a beautiful palette of fabrics in the colors of sea glass, our quilt was inspired by a photo of Waikiki beach in Hawaii. I've finished piecing and am quilting away as I work on the pattern which you'll receive for free when you visit during the Quest. I can't show you the quilt yet but here is a peak at the two shaded units which make up the quilt.
