Taste of Evergreen has been moved to Tuesday, October 5th. It will still be hosted at the Evergreen Lake House with VIP open from 4:30 – 5:30pm and general admission from 5:30 – 8:00pm. Our restaurants have been in a tough position of having lower number of staff but high volume during the summer months. This allows them to breathe before taking on this event that we all enjoy. Tickets are still available at evergreenchamber.org When we think of how lucky we are to live and work in this community, it is an event like Taste of Evergreen that make us realize how special of a community Evergreen is.

Success breeds success and we are fortunate in our mountain community to have a large group of female businesses owners, directors, managers and more who consistently work together to help each other succeed. As the Evergreen Area Chamber of Commerce, it is our mission to grow our local economy and build business relationships and it is our pleasure to recognize and celebrate that success.
Once again, the Evergreen Chamber is proud to host the annual Mountain Area Women in Business Awards and Hall of Fame Inductions. We invite you to join us Thursday October 21 at Mt. Join a group of amazing women business owners and managers that Thursday and enjoy an elegant meal, network with other career focused women and hear about the importance of a woman’s voice in the political process from Representatives Lisa Cutter and Mary Hadfield. This will be a balanced presentation not focused on politics, but on the role women can play in changing the political culture. Who doesn’t like a great party? Join us as we explore the various food offerings from some of Evergreen's best restaurants and caterers. Each chef will choose something for you to try. We will have a contest to determine the Best Bite of the Taste, the Best Sip of the Taste, and new this year, the Java Jolt award for best coffee of the Taste. This is a fun community event for all ages and you will not leave hungry. Once again this year there will be a beer and wine garden. Music will be provided by Somebody's Brother.

How did you get the background and skills necessary to run this type of business?
Most of us who run a trades business struck out on our own because we were good at what we did as a repair guy, a salesmen or anywhere in-between. The interesting thing is that being a good employee does not inherently mean you will be a good employer. So as the story goes, the technician starts his own small business and struggles more times than not and often ends up closing the doors within the first few years. This is because learning to lay shingles or frame a house or run electrical as an employee tends to allow more room for error, you often have someone guiding you. Where as, a small business does not come with natural oversight and you likely do not have any formal training from a business school. You have to seek it out, you have to read, you have to constantly grow yourself, because now it's all on you. How do you get the back ground and skills necessary to run this business you ask? Well, the honest answer is sleepless nights, often because you're working and sometimes because you're afraid of what the next day holds. If you don’t have the strength of will and the willingness to adapt and overcome on a daily basis, you might not want to start a business.
How do you measure success and over what time frame?
Success is recognizing where you are and where you’ve come from. Success is in the day to day, it's in the amazing reviews from your clients, it's in the culture of the company. Beyond the obvious financial answer, success for Roofing Outfitters is in knowing that every team member is here because they want to be and we enjoy what we do and where we do it.
Does the company give back to the community? In what ways?
Roofing Outfitters works closely with Habitat for Humanity and has provided many free roofs for their new builds. We work and donate monthly/yearly to The Wounded Warriors Project as well as almost every school local to Evergreen. Closer to home, if there is someone in our community that needs help due to lack of ability or lack of funds, I want everyone to know that they can call us. We have a successful business and as such we do enjoy giving back.
How do you advertise your business?
Our biggest marketing piece is our beloved office. We purchased the A-Frame with a plan to restore and revitalize it. It was a big move for us but as a construction company, we wanted to get out on “front street”, if you will. We wanted to show the community that the days drinking and smoking on job sights is no more, that we are clean cut, respectable, and have nothing to hide. If you are unsure of our work, just look at our beautiful office which is now a staple structure in our community and it speaks for itself.
