November 2, 2019
With longtime friend Kaffe Fassett.
I just returned from a trip to Houston for Quilt Market, our industry trade show. As usual, I met up with several longtime friends and acquaintances. It is always an inspiration to see the wide variety of quilts displayed in the booths and also the special exhibits. Particularly exciting was a spectacular blue and white quilt exhibit.

Also late last month, we had our 10-day Quilters' Quest, welcoming quilters to the Studio from many states and even several foreign countries. I was able to greet almost all of the Studio's visitors from my post by the door. It was a fun experience for us all.

However, the most exciting news for us is that our much loved Washington Nationals baseball team won the World Series!  While I'd love to talk at length about that, we have lots of information in this month's newsletter. Read on to learn about new quilts, travel, tips and the final lesson for our Block of the Month, Stellaris.
Introducing Malam VII
Five new prints in enticing colors, click image to see more.
I am very happy to introduce my seventh collection of batiks, Malam VII, with 32 new fabrics featuring a full spectrum of colors.  I'm delighted that we were able to get really bright prints and rich darks without them becoming gray and muddy looking which can sometimes happen when creating batiks.

These new batiks are available by the yard or in fat quarter bundles, four groups of eight fabrics each.

You can see the entire Malam VII collection here.
My Latest Quilt, Seville
Last month I introduced you to the Andalucia fabric line. Now, this month, I have for you the quilt which features those fabrics. Seville was inspired, believe it or not, by another design of mine which, when I looked at it upside down, all I could see were the columned buildings and many churches with their tall steeples which dominate the main square in Seville.

The Seville quilt is available in two sizes - lap (51" x 65") and large (77" x 102") - and comes in two colorways. The quilt is made with simple strip piecing techniques and the pattern is a FREE download.

2019 Row by Row, Hot Stuff, Now Available
Hot Stuff, our "row" for this past year's Row by Row Experience, was designed for the theme, "Taste the Experience." For those of you who were unable to come by the Studio to pick a row kit, the waiting period is over and they are now available.

Hot Stuff finishes at 18" square and features an image of my somewhat famous hot pepper jelly. Two kit options are available. Included with both kits is the pre-printed fabric for the sign and jar label.

The Complete Row Kit contains all fabrics for the top, backing and binding plus the pattern. The Row Only Kit contains fabrics for the top only and the pattern. There is also a pattern-only option.

Click here for more information on Hot Stuff.
