December 5, 2020
This has been a year that has affected the lives of everyone on the planet. No one has gone untouched in one way or another as the pandemic has circled the globe and then come back over and over again. As we wind down 2020, there is hope on the horizon. Several pharmaceutical companies have been diligently working all year on vaccines and many of those are showing very promising results. Let’s all continue to be diligent about staying safe by following the guidelines of the scientists and let’s look forward to a new year of healing.

One thing many of us have done lately is to look at all we can be grateful for in our lives. Here at the Studio, we would like to thank all of you, our customers. We are so grateful that you have hung in there with us as we went through this year of many changes in our business. Thank you for continuing to support us.
This month’s newsletter looks back at one of our favorite quilts, looks ahead at what is coming up, has suggestions for holiday gift giving (or getting) and reminds you of helpful information available for successful quilting.

And finally, here’s wishing you a holiday season filled with peace and joy.
Revisiting Echoes
Several years ago, members of my staff were working on an auction quilt to raise money for their guild, a chapter of Quilters Unlimited here in Northern Virginia. Inspired by their use of this traditional pattern, I created Echoes which features my Malam batik fabrics. Careful color and value placement give the illusion of curves with just two basic blocks. The quilt uses rotary cutting and quick piecing techniques, as well as traditional templates for some patches.

Echoes is available in two sizes, wall/ lap (61"x61") and queen (91"x91"), and four colorways, Fire, Fountain, Forest, and Frost.

My Future Trips with Craftours

Needless to say, I have not been traveling these past months as we have had to put our lives on hold for the most part. Looking ahead to when life returns to normal, I have been making plans with Jim West of Craftours to travel to three wonderful locations: Greece, Uzbekistan and Ireland. None of these trips will go on until we know it is safe to do so. In the meantime, let’s look ahead to these fabulous destinations full of design ideas, history, and nature plus a unique hand piecing quilting project inspired by the art, architecture, crafts and spirit of each country.

Holiday Hours

To give our staff time to be with their families, virtually or in person, we will be taking a few days off. The Studio will close on Christmas Eve, December 24th, at 3:00 and reopen Monday, January 4th, at 10:00. You will still be able to place orders online but we will not be able to assist you during this time or begin filling the orders until after Jan. 4th.

We hope you have a happy and safe holiday season.
