April 4, 2020

I never thought I would be starting out a newsletter by talking about a pandemic. That is something for books and movies, not our "nonfiction" lives. In case you have missed our notices, our mail order remains open with limited hours, while our retail shop is closed for the foreseeable future. Those of us here at the Studio realize what an important part quilting plays in our lives not just to give us something to do but also for comfort. We hope to be able to keep the mail order part of the business open to provide you with the supplies you need to work on your projects.

Another consequence of all of this is my trip to Greece originally scheduled for this May, has been postponed a year until 2021. You can check out the details of this trip and others here.

Continuing this month, I have the next lesson on using border prints.  Once again, I think you will be amazed at the impact these fabrics can have on your quilts when used in different ways. Also, we have some fun projects to try, a new product and a look ahead at our web special sales this month.
Border Print Lesson #2
In my border print series I will be showing you the many different ways you can use my border print fabrics in a quilt for more than just borders. Each month, I'll have lessons on a different technique along with ideas for projects.  Last month, my lesson was on creating border print squares. This month, I will be talking about hexagons.

Try These Quilts with Border Print Hexagons

With hexagons in mind, I have two great projects you can try. Gemstones is a pattern I created several years ago which features border print hexagons in a jewel-like design.

In addition, my longtime friend and teacher from the Hilton Head Seminar days, Gayle Ropp, created a similar design with beautiful results. I've created a template which makes the individual triangles, which make up the hexagon, a snap to make.

Sweet Tea with Impressions Fabrics
Last month we introduced you to my latest collection, Impressions, and latest quilt, Sweet Tea. This month, we've combined the two.

Sweet Tea kits, featuring the Impressions fabrics are available in multiple colorways along with kits in three previous colorways.

See our Sweet Tea kits and download the FREE PATTERN.
