9-11 am

First Community North - Wing Grace Hall

Mark Hiltz will help us examine why gratitude is so important. We’ll follow the presentation with table discussions that lead to commitments.

These are divisive times. But do they need to be? As people of faith, we can take the lead in engaging with others when we don’t see eye to eye… and doing so with respect and civility.

While we believe in the separation of church and state, we also believe that elections are matters of faith. We can hold both of these truths.

The Interfaith Association of Central Ohio, The Spiritual Life and learning Center and The Spirituality Network have been working together to find centeredness and connection throughout the elections process and in its aftermath.

Intersections

Greetings Beloved Community!

2025 is starting off with many activities and challenges. We will witness a change in the administration that, it is safe to assume, will bring many changes to our foreign and domestic policies. There are large and complicated conflicts occurring around the world. We just experienced a terrorist attack in New Orleans and perhaps another in Las Vegas. It will be, I’m afraid, a year of rapid change, conflict, noisy rhetoric, and fear. So, what are people of faith, people of spirit to do amid such times? I humbly suggest the following:

1.     Go to church.

2.     Pray.

3.     Do yoga.

4.     Meditate.

5.     Read.

Then…

1.     Get out of the church and do something.

2.     Stop praying and do something.

3.     Get off your mat and do something.

4.     Get off your cushion and do something.

5.     Close your books and do something.

Don’t do something alone, find a tribe, find a community and do something together. If you are not sure what to do, may I suggest starting with reading Matthew 25:31-46:

·      Feed the hungry.

·      Give the thirsty something to drink.

·      Welcome/protect the stranger/immigrant.

·      Clothe the naked.

·      Care for the sick.

·      Visit those in prison.

·      Care for/protect the marginalized, the disinherited.

Friends, don’t turn away from what is and will be happening in the world. Face it head-on and do something. May this be the year that you grow in your role as a Sacred Activist.

May it be so!

More from SLLC

SLLC Community,

what are you reading?

Judith Fasone recommends our book for this month.

  • The Physics of Jazz by Stephon Alexander

From Judith's review: "The Jazz of Physics gave me a spark of energy that has helped reveal that the mysteries of the cosmos are in the creative outlet each of us enjoys. Great reads by the fire!"
