Important Information about Labyrinth Walk

Sunday, May 4 2-5 pm

First Community North

One hundred days is a typical milestone for a new administration.

Let’s gather with our neighbors to share our reactions to what’s been happening as a result of the November election. We’ll gather in small groups facilitated by experienced spiritual directors. Our goal is to create a brave space where people are free to share how they are feeling. Prepare to be heard.

A Note from Rev. Seth Stearns

Greetings and blessings to you Beloved Community!

You can see from the graphics above that we have two events coming up this weekend: World Labyrinth Day on Saturday, May 3 and the Leaning In - Being Heard Town Hall (a collaboration with the Spirituality Network and the Interfaith Association of Central Ohio) on Sunday, May 4. This session will provide the opportunity to express our experiences and feelings related to the Trump administration’s first 100 days. We hope that you will be able to join us for one or both of these programs.

With so much chaos and upheaval since January 20th, it is so important (and sometimes impossible) to maintain spiritual centeredness and grounding. Through some of our recent programs, we have had the opportunity to study the Old Testament prophets (The Tears of Things by Richard Rohr) and more modern-day prophets as depicted in the video series, Prophetic Voices (Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Reinhold Niebuhr, Abraham Heschel, Dorothy Day, and Howard Thurman). Both groups of prophets have much to teach us in these days. One of those lessons is the danger of dualistic thinking (right vs wrong, Democrats vs Republicans, etc.). Such an approach leads to limited thinking and self-righteousness. Rohr tells us that the trajectory throughout history can be Order to Disorder to Re-order. Perhaps as people of faith we are called to always be asking the question, “What else is possible that is aligned with the Divine’s prayer for us?” Abraham Heschel’s theology acknowledges that as humans we need God. But he also believes that God needs us to manifest and make real God’s prayer for God’s people here on earth. Perhaps we are all prophets if we choose to be and can do so by firmly believing that God needs us in this moment to use our unique gifts to always be asking, “What else is possible that is aligned with the Divine’s prayer for us?”

Shalom,

We had a small but wonderful group of ladies come together for our SoulCollage® gathering last month.

Let's gather before the rush of summer to sink into deep rest with the soothing tones of quartz crystal singing bowls, chimes, and ocean drum. This nourishing, meditative sound bath invites your mind and body to unwind, reset, and restore. Come as you are and let the sound waves carry you to a place of calm.

This sound bath is here to meet you exactly where you are.

No experience is needed.

Just bring yourself, an open heart, and something comfy to lie on (i.e. a yoga mat, blanket and pillow). Chairs will also be available.
