Helping to Bridge the Divide:

The Golden Rule: One-on One Conversations

Join us on October 7th for a discussion on Politics and The Golden Rule!

Braver Angels defines the Golden Rule as “Do Unto Others as You Would Have Them Do Unto You.”

Prior to the meeting, think about when you have applied the Golden Rule in dealing with someone or been the recipient of the Golden Rule and be prepared to discuss your experience.

A Note from Rev. Seth Stearns

Greetings, Beloved Community!

We welcome Dr. Pete Enns to Columbus today. We are excited to be partnering with First Congregational Church and Washington Gladden Social Justice Park in bringing Pete to town. Pete will be at First Congregational Church on Saturday, October 4th from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. He will deliver a presentation followed by a moderated Q&A session. We will have two of his book titles available for purchase and Pete will be signing books as well. There will then be a meet & greet out in the Washington Gladden Social Justice Park where you will have the opportunity to meet Pete and say hello.

Pete will then be preaching at all three services on Sunday, October 5th at First Community (9, 10, and 11). Following the 11:00 am service at FC North, Pete will be hanging out in room 101 beginning around 12:30 for a meet & greet and will be signing books that will be available for purchase.

Alejandro Rodriquez and I had the opportunity to record a podcast with Pete that was fun and fascinating. You can listen to the podcast here - The Spirituality Podcast - The Spiritual Life & Learning Center

We are also very excited to be partnering with Braver Angels and hosting them for their October 7th meeting from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at FC North in Wing Grace Hall. Braver Angels has as their stated mission, Bringing Americans together to bridge the partisan divide and strengthen our democratic republic. Please consider joining us for this very important opportunity to be in civil conversation with one another across the political divide. Braver Angels is hoping to engage more “Reds” and having them join the conversations. If you know folks who identify as “Red”, please invite them to this event.

I look forward to seeing you this weekend!

Blessings,

Rev. Seth Stearns
