THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE CHARTER AMENDMENTS
Proposed Modification 1
"Change the term of a council member from two years to three years with two council members being elected every year rather than three. Currently, the mayor places 2 and 5 are elected in odd years and places 1,3, and 4 are elected in even years. The charter change would include a transition provision from two-year terms to three-year terms by place."
Proposed Modification 2
"That the position of mayor-protem is formally established in the charter, with the appointment pursuant to the council policy (and currently by the mayor)."
