THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT PROPOSITION A
Citizen surveys have indicated that Corinth residents want more local dining and shopping options.
The City of Corinth’s community goal is to create a centralized, vibrant downtown for Corinth residents to experience new dining, retail, and events.
The Short-Term Motor Vehicle Rental Tax provides additional funding for economic development which may be used for the new Agora District. It is a tax on the rental of vehicles from businesses located within the City of Corinth.
The Short-Term Motor Vehicle Rental Tax …
- It has less impact on Corinth residents as a whole.
- As a tax imposed only on a person renting a car within the City, the tax does not increase property taxes of all residents; rather, it is a tax on the user of rental cars whether the rental is by choice or as part of an insurance claim.
- The tax would be imposed only on those who rent vehicles from businesses in the City. It is not imposed on general sales within the City or as a component of property taxes.
- The tax is not permanent. It expires after funding is reached.
