BOARD & COMMISSION APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN
|
|
|
|
Shape your community and volunteer to serve on a City of Corinth Board or Commission! This is a great opportunity to learn more about how our local government and processes work, form deeper connections within our community, and share your voice with City leaders.
Board and Commission members play a vital role in advising the City Council and City Management, recommending policies, and strategic planning. Board and Commission members also support and strengthen the communication between our residents and elected officials.
We are currently accepting applications for all eight boards. All Board and Commission members are asked to serve a two-year term. To be considered for the 2021-2022 term, please apply by August 16, 2021.

|
PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
|
|
|
|
The Planning & Zoning Commission advises the Corinth City Council on all matters related to zoning, city planning, and developmental applications with the primary function of updating the City's Master plan.
This Commission consists of five members and two alternate members. Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Special sessions are scheduled as needed.

CORINTH ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
|
|
|
|
The Corinth Economic Development Corporation is a nonprofit corporation managed by a board of directors to promote economic development, job creation, tourism, and high quality of life in Corinth. The CEDC will attract, assist, and retain a diversified mix of businesses, public/private partnerships, and infrastructure improvements to facilitate a self-sustaining economy.
The CEDC board consists of seven members with meetings on the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Special sessions are called on an as-needed basis.

PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD
|
|
|
|
The Parks and Recreation Board acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council and Public Works Director. The Board cooperates with other governmental agencies, civic groups, and all Corinth residents to advance parks and recreation planning and programming. They also recommend policies, review annual reports, and serve as an advocate for parks and recreation services.
The Board is made up of five members who meet on an as-needed basis. The Board also consists of sub-committees to assist with other duties such as fundraising, clean up, or recreation coordination. These sub-committees are established after the Board is selected.

KEEP CORINTH BEAUTIFUL BOARD
|
|
|
|
Keep Corinth Beautiful serves as an advisory board that promotes beautification, community improvement, litter prevention, and solid waste minimization. This is accomplished through beautification projects, community clean-up events, tree plantings, gardening, recycling, and community outreach.
The KCB Board meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at Corinth City Hall and consists of seven members. Additional special sessions are called on an as-needed basis.

The Finance Audit Committee aims to assist City Council in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities for the annual audit process and the system of internal controls. The Board also reviews and provides recommendations on the City’s financial, investment, budgetary reports, and policies and procedures.
This committee includes the City Manager, the Mayor, two members of the City Council, and two representatives from the community. Meetings are held on the third Thursday following the end of each quarter at 4:30 p.m. at Corinth City Hall. Additional meetings are scheduled as needed.

The Board of Ethics is an oversight entity responsible for implementing and enforcing the Corinth Code of Ethics. The Code of Ethics policy requires public officials and employees to be independent, impartial, and responsible while representing the City.
Members of the advisory board may not hold an elected municipal office within the City of Corinth and may not serve on any other City of Corinth Advisory Board or Commission. The Board of Ethics consists of five members with meetings scheduled on an as-needed basis.

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT & BOARD OF CONSTRUCTION APPEALS
|
|
|
|
The Board of Adjustments is a non-judicial body that rules on variances, exceptions, and appeals to the Corinth Zoning Ordinance. This Board hears and decides appeals that suggest errors in an order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official. The Board can also choose to authorize Zoning Special Exceptions and Zoning Variances.
The Board of Construction Appeals hears any appeal of a decision of the Director of Planning and Development or the Building Official regarding the construction codes or building regulations adopted by the City.
Both boards consist of the same five members and two alternate members. Meetings are called on an "as-needed basis and will take place in the Council Chambers.
