Building Community with Astego

On July 13th the IR team visited the Astego Community Warehouse in Garden City to participate in a unique community outreach opportunity.

Astego is dedicated to providing housing and outreach services to the various communities that they serve as an organization. In 2017 they partnered with Good360 to establish the Community Warehouse.

The warehouse accepts new donated items, selling them at 50%-90% off to schools, charities, and churches. This initiative not only helps organizations afford essential supplies but also funds Astego's housing and feeding programs.

The IR staff spent their day sorting items and building furniture, witnessing firsthand the immense impact a collective effort can have.

We want to extend our gratitude to Astego's founder, Tim Flaherty, the Warehouse support team, and the volunteers who made our participation possible. Astego is a great progrom that serves an important need for the community in diverse ways, and we hope to return to help their mission again in the future.

Purses with a Purpose Boise

During the July 13th community outreach event Idaho REALTORS® was introduced to Launee Wolverton - a volunteer at the Community Warehouse who also started her own fundraising program in 2019. "Purses with a Purpose Boise", is a program founded Launee, which also occupies warehouse space at the Astego Community Warehouse. Launee is a REALTOR® with Silvercreek Realty, and this program aims to fill donated purses with everyday hygiene products which are then given to women in need throughout the community.

We want to recognize and celebrate the incredible community support that this member provides, and help the "Purses with a Purpose" program receive the support that they require. They're in constant need of gently used purses, personal hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, and toothpaste, as well as feminine products. The purses also often include small comforts like scarves, hats, gloves, and even food gift cards.

Your contributions make a significant difference and are lovingly packed into purses once a month and distributed to crisis centers and shelters throughout the Treasure Valley. We commend Launee for her incredible work, and hope all Idaho REALTORS® take time to learn more about Purses with a Purpose and provide any support that they can for the program.

Your Idaho: A Stewardship Guidebook

Idaho REALTORS® is delighted to announce the imminent launch of our "Your Idaho: A Stewardship Guidebook". This expansive project from IR is designed to be an essential companion for Idaho homeowners, sharing valuable insights on how we can collaboratively nurture and sustain the beauty of the gem state. The guidebook covers a range of topics, from sustainable practices and wildlife protection to water conservation and mindful landscaping, promising to be a go-to resource for all Idahoans.

The initial batch of physical guidebooks is currently being printed and will be available to order soon. Moreover, a digital versions will be accessible for download on forms platforms and through the Idaho REALTORS® website, ensuring easy access for all our members. Stay tuned for more details on the release date and upcoming previews of this indispensable guide to being a responsible neighbor and steward in Idaho.

Idaho REALTORS® Good Neighbor Award

Applications Due August 5th

The Idaho REALTORS® Good Neighbor Award is still accepting nominations. This award celebrates REALTORS® who've made exceptional community impact through significant volunteer work in nonprofit organizations. Eligibility requires current good standing as an Idaho REALTORS® member. Nominations should demonstrate the breadth and impact of personal contributions and the nominee's role model potential for other REALTORS®. Results of involvement can be documented through reports or testimonials. Submit your forms to [email protected] by the fast-approaching deadline of August 5th, 2023.
