MESSAGE FROM CORINTH POLICE CHIEF
The men and women of the Corinth Police Department are honored to provide protection and services to the residents of Corinth and Shady Shores. We see our mission as preserving the excellent quality of life that the people of both these communities enjoy. Both see a very low crime rate, and we will continue to endeavor to keep it that way. In collaboration with the other law enforcement agencies in our area, we are laboring to respond effectively to the ever-increasing volume of vehicular traffic that passes daily through our communities. Traffic safety is a huge priority for Corinth officers.
We embrace the philosophy of community-oriented policing and attempt to support it by asking our Patrol officers to spend as much time as possible in our residential neighborhoods interacting informally with the people there. We also try to meet our citizen-customers through such programs as Coffee with a Cop, the Citizens Public Safety Academy, and summertime Mini-Academies for kids. In addition, our Patrol force is complimented by an active group of Volunteers in Police Service who staff a Citizens on Patrol program. We are extremely proud of our volunteers.
We recognize the tremendous support we receive daily from our residents. It ranges from food brought to the police station to a simple “thank you” heard from a citizen in a restaurant or on the street. We realize that sort of incredible public support is increasingly rare in today’s world and we pledge to earn it every day and night.
We are your hometown police professionals. We are your sworn protectors and service providers. We look forward to continuing to work with you to build even greater communities.
Jerry Garner
Chief of Police

CORINTH POLICE DEPARTMENT INTERSTATE 35 TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT EFFORTS
If you have had to sit for a prolonged period on Interstate 35E because of crashes caused by speeding, inattentive, and reckless drivers you have felt both frustration and increased personal danger. Your Lake Cities police officers feel that, too, and as a consequence they are launching a multi-agency, high-visibility, coordinated enforcement effort in an attempt to reduce the number of accidents. (Corinth alone logged 622 accidents connected to the Interstate last year.)
Deployment permitting, each day you will see an increased presence of police cars from Corinth, Lake Dallas, and Hickory Creek on the Interstate. On given days, they will be coordinating our efforts with officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Denton Police Department, and the Lewisville Police Department.
Highway carnage is a statewide problem. According to TxDOT, 4,480 people were killed on Texas roads in 2021, making it the second deadliest year since the state began tracking traffic fatalities in 1940. The increase in fatalities reflects a nationwide trend of growing numbers of highway deaths.
The Police Departments plan to use social media in an effort to convince motorists to slow down and pay attention. In addition, TxDOT has mounted a social media traffic safety campaign called #EndTheStreakTX, which refers to the fact that the streak of traffic deaths on Texas roadways extends back to November 7, 2000, which was the last deathless day on Texas highways. The campaign asks motorists to commit to safe driving habits to help end the streak of daily traffic deaths in the Lone Star state.
The local traffic safety campaign is intended to continue into the foreseeable future. It is not an effort to raise revenue. Simply put, it is an attempt to save lives and make driving on our section of the Interstate safe again.

CITIZENS PUBLIC SAFETY ACADEMY
The Citizens Public Safety Academy, or CPSA, is a 12-week program designed to open the lines of communication between Corinth Police Department, the Lake Cities Fire Department and the community. It is the sincere desire of the Police Department to develop a style of public safety that reflects a collaborative effort between community and police and fire departments. This process requires an informed citizenry and it is the goal of the CPSA to increase understanding through education.
Classes are held one night a week for 12 weeks and are conducted at no cost to the participants. Anyone at least 18 years old who resides or works in any of the Lake Cities (Corinth, Shady Shores, Hickory Creek or Lake Dallas) is eligible to attend the Citizens Public Safety Academy provided they meet the basic criteria outlined in the application.
The 2022 Citizens Public Safety Academy starts on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. Graduation is on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. Classes will be held on Tuesday nights from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. To sign up, or learn more about the program, please visit the link below

Planning your summer vacation? Sit back, relax, and let the Corinth Police Department take care of things at home while you are away.
The Corinth Police Department offers a Vacation Watch Program to provide citizens some peace of mind while they are away from their homes. Officers check the residence during their absence and document the times they stop by. Should anything be of concern, action will be taken and home owners will be contacted.
Personal and household crimes are the highest in the warm months when people spend more time away from home on vacations or are involved in outdoor activities. Avoid becoming part of this statistic by signing up for the Police Vacation Watch and following the suggestions below to protect your home, property, and family while you're relaxing and having fun!
