WHATEVER FORM THEY TAKE, DISASTERS WILL ALWAYS HAPPEN

tornadoe Disasters aren't always caused by human error. In 2017, the United States, had a record year for disasters with natural calamities costing $306 billion in damages. The impact on businesses was high. When a business is down, chances are it will stay closed forever.

Review this simple threat analysis checklist for your business. Disaster recovery (DR) is an important part of protecting some of your most valuable business assets.

Unfortunately, when it comes to planning for disaster recovery, small business owners tend to postpone projects and not take action. The reasons differ, but keep this in mind: when disaster strikes, it can take a long time to resume your normal activities.

52% of small business owners surveyed said it would take at least three months to recover from a disaster.   The survey also revealed that more than  75% don't have a disaster plan.

Security Alert

The federal government has issued an alert concerning a new malware phishing campaign launched by unknown cyber assailants using emails that claim to be from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has advised citizens to be on the alert for emails purportedly sent from the National Cyber Awareness System (NCAS). According to CISA, the malware campaign uses a spoofed email address to make it appear like an NCAS alert. A click on the attached document springs malware on the unsuspecting victim. CISA is advising people receiving an unexpected email to confirm that it came from DHS and has cautioned users not to click links or download attachments included in emails. As a matter of policy, CISA does not send NCAS notifications that contain email attachments.

Extending WiFi Coverage On Campus

CDS is helping a southern Illinois college extend WiFi coverage to the far reaches of its campus. CDS is currently setting up a point-to-point wireless connection at Shawnee Community College Main Campus in Ullin, Illinois. This PTP system will broadcast high speed internet from the main building over to the College's baseball and softball fields. In addition to enabling students and other users to stay better connected in a rural area where 4G coverage is limited, this new installation will also allow the school to broadcast games and other events live online.

I wanted to pass on that I feel that our technician, Alex Wemhoener, has been very professional, he is always courteous and informative when he does service on the copier.   He arrives and listens to the concern and then he goes. He explains each thing that is found and how he has fixed it.   My team and I appreciate him and all of his work he has done for us.

We appreciate him.
