Chair's Corner

BACK to school! Already?!? It really seems like it can’t be time for the kiddo to go back to school. Or maybe you are saying YAY…the kids are going back to school. Of course that means that summer is winding down.

When I think about back to school and the fact that I am a lifelong learner, as I love learning something new. I think about the four stages of learning or competence...

Eye Spy… Through the Eyes of Those We Serve
Terri Tucker

Where do we find our brand? By looking through the eyes of others.Where do we find our differentiation? By looking through the eyes of others. Where do we find our success? By looking through the eyes of those we serve to find how to emotionally connect. In this 50-minute engaging conversation we will explore the power of seeing what our customers see…and how to learn, apply and grow based on that vision. We will understand how differentiation matters and how stories are created and shared about our experiences and our offerings. Be prepared to think and share, learn and plan to apply. This will not be a “sit and get” presentation but, rather, a large conversation about thinking and doing.

Please pre-register to help ensure accurate account of meals and seats. Online pre-registration is $15 for members and $18 for guests until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. After the pre-registration deadline, attendees can register/pay at the door. Prices will be $18 for members and $21 for guests. We hope to see you there!

August Luncheon

The Monthly Programming committee was determined to help attendees get out of their comfort zone at the August luncheon, and succeeded! Attendees had assigned seats, nearly guaranteeing that they would meet someone new, and played Women's Network Bingo ensuring they would meet and exchange business cards with at least eight new individuals in the room!

Women's Network also celebrated its new and improved website with a ribbon cutting by the Chamber Ambassadors. It was a great luncheon with lots of smiles, energy, and laughs.

They are energetic and engaged, friendly, successful, willing to step out of their comfort zones, and approachable.
The Greater Missouri Leadership Challenge meets four times a year in different cities, for three days at a time, with interesting behind-the-scenes learning experiences in each location.

Committee Feature
Changing the Odds

While all of Women's Network's committees have big hearts, if you're looking for some of the biggest hearts of WN, Changing the Odds is your committee. They are the philanthropic arm of Women's Network focused on aiding women in the community. They put on two seminars a year geared toward providing resources to women who have been removed, or are interested in joining the workplace. The leadership works diligently to pair with fellow non-profits across Columbia to maximize their reach. An average of ten committee members sit around the room with their name tags in front of them every month ready to contribute and lend a hand in any way needed. While their organizations may differ, they each have three things in common: they love Women's Network, they love their community, and they are dedicated to give every woman in Columbia a chance at success.

If you share these interests, are a Women's Network member and are looking for a committee to join, swing by on the fourth Thursday of the month, 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. at the Chamber and prepare to be welcomed with open arms!
