Mphatso Bendason is 16-years-old and studies in Form 2 at Mulanje Secondary School. She is the first girl in her extended family to attend secondary school.
Before AGE Africa offered her a scholarship in 2021, her uncle sold his bicycle to pay for part of her school fees.
In addition to being a strong student, Mphatso is an award winning athlete! She has won three gold medals for her participation in 200, 500, and 800 meter races. She completed the Blantyre Marathon in second place and just won first place at the Friends of Mulanje Marathon this August. She is the first teenage girl in Malawi to achieve these monumental goals!
When she heard about the upcoming Ride for Malawi, she stated, "being an athlete, I know the sacrifices the participants make to keep me in school. I will work hard so that their efforts and financial support should not go in vain."
Mphatso is cheering us on to reach our $115,000 fundraising goal at the Ride for Malawi. You can help us reach our goal by making a contribution in any amount below.
