AGE Africa Scholars know that girls are our next-generation climate change leaders. This July, we convened 400 AGE Africa Scholars, alumnae, and local female climate change advocates at our annual All Scholar's Retreat to discuss the impacts of climate change in their communities and schools.  AGE Africa Scholars took center stage, sharing stories of being displaced and out of school for three months after heavy floods crippled their communities. Others performed a skit they wrote highlighting the negative effects of deforestation and proposed sustainable alternatives. At the end of the retreat, Scholars developed action plans to take the lead in combating climate change in their communities.   We're proud of our scholars for speaking up about environmentalism and taking action as climate change leaders!

Featured Scholar - Chikondi Nsanjama

Chikondi Nsanjama is a first-year AGE Africa scholar studying at Masongola Secondary School in Zomba.   Her dream is to become a lawyer and child rights advocate. She is already a leader and role model in her community. As a member of AGE Africa's Creating Healthy Approaches to Success (CHATS) Club, she's led study skills and goal-setting sessions to motivate her peers.   We're proud to feature a quote from Chikondi, “Going to school has changed my life,” on our new AGE Africa bag in time for AGE Africa’s Ride for Malawi on September 10, 2022.   Each Ride for Malawi participant will receive a bag to show their support for girls like Chikondi!
