Caruso Named Executive Director

The SN-ICC Board of Directors has named Monica Caruso as executive director to replace retiring Bob Benedict.
 
Caruso is the former Public Affairs director for the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association.  She has an extensive background in writing newsletters, planning meetings and working with association boards.
 
She is a former business writer, reporter and feature writer with the Las Vegas Review Journal.  Monica has a communications degree from Fordham University in New York and a certificate in public relations from UNLV.
 
Caruso begins her duties as executive director on January 2.

2018 Installation Banquet to be held Jan. 20 at Revere Golf Club

Register now for the 2018 SN-ICC Installation Banquet at a new time and place.
The banquet will be held January 20, 2018 at the Revere Golf Club in Henderson.  Register now to attend the swearing in of the 2018 Board of Directors, the presentation of the annual awards and lots of raffle items and fun. Registrations are required.
Firestop Seminar Set for Jan. 25
 
Firestopping has become a hot topic because of the new Firestop Inspector requirements in the International Building Code (IBC).  This training is designed for Plans Examiners, Fire and Building Inspectors, Contractors, Architects and Engineers. 
We will review the requirements of sections 714 and 715 of the IBC
fo r joint systems, perimeter containment, through and membrane-penetrations, discuss the new ASTM firestop inspection standards and you will receive an overview of draftstopping and the residential requirements of fireblocking.  

This program will also provide code compliant solutions along with helpful hints for plans examiners and inspectors.
The presenter will be Brice Miller.  Brice has over 25 years' e xperience as Building Official, Inspector and Plans Examiner and holds four International Code Council (ICC) certifications.  He has pro vided firestop presentations to most state ICC Chapters throughout the country and proposed the ICC firestop inspector certification that should be implemented in 2018, and was instrumental in th e development of the new ICC book, titled Firestopping, Joint Systems and Dampers.

SN-ICC Presents Check to HomeAid

SNICC Board members present check for $10,000 to HomeAid Southern Nevada during the SNHBA/HomeAid Installation and Awards Luncheon on December 7 at the Four Seasons Hotel.
December Chapter Meeting Featured Election of Board, Year-End Wrap-up and Award Presentation
 
The December 14 Chapter meeting included the nomination and election of the 2018 Board of Directors,  President Majid Pakniat's presentation of the Year-End Wrap-Up and the presentation of one of the association's annual awards.
Steve DiGiovanni presented the report of the Nominating Committee and offered the name of Sam Palmer of Clark County to be the 2018 President.  The vote was unanimous in favor.  He offered the name of Terry Kozlowski from North Las Vegas to be 1st Vice President. She was unanimously approved. He offered the name of Jim Gerren from Clark County to be the new 2nd Vice President.  The vote was unanimous in favor of the nomination.
He also noted that Majid Pakniat automatically becomes the Immediate Past President and that appointments of Treasurer and one Industry Director would be announced soon.
Majid als o presented the SN-ICC Special Appreciation Award to retiring Executive Director Bob Benedict in recognition of his four years of service to the association.
