Dear All,

Welcome to the Holiday Season. I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving and are looking forward to a wonderful, albeit different, Holiday season, whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas or Kwanzaa. Oh yeah, and a good New Year.

Love is a feeling to be learned. In 1992 (or earlier) I met a yoga teacher named Rama Jyoti Vernon. She had just returned from Russia where she had been working on peace negotiations. A keynote speaker at the conference I was attending, I was amazed by her presence and ability to bring yoga into her work. The stories she shared were about living the concepts of yoga: equanimity of mind, and thus finding truth through the heart connection rather than the mind. Living in awareness of where we source beliefs, she taught us to know our self and "step up." She challenged me to go beyond what I thought I could do.

She took 56 groups of professional people who practiced yoga and introduced them to business people in Russia. She did peace negotiations in the middle east. She laughed because she kept going places where they told her there were enemies and all she could find was fellow humans, wanting to connect. She was in refugee camps teaching yoga to help traumatized women claim their life again.

Moving forward over the years, I took classes with her, I roomed with Rama, we served together on two Board of Trustees, co-taught workshops, I became part of her teaching staff for her yoga teacher training program, and sponsored her to teach her in Colorado. In other words, Rama became a teacher, a mentor, a friend and I learned to really love her wisdom, laugh, smile, and caring, as a person carrying light into the world.

She passed away last week. She was one of those people that was supposed to be eternal. And, I realize she is eternal as her light transitioned from being on the earth plane to shine through the heart and teachings of her students.

I still love everything she is. There is an emptiness and a joy. Heartache and peace. How totally awesome? Another chance to learn . . . and at a time of Thanksgiving! Another teaching from Rama -- learning through the duality, in this case, sadness and Thanksgiving.

Today, in honor of a wonderful woman, I am sharing some pictures of her with some of our students. Ask any one of them to share a story of her teaching and they will beam as they remember . . .

And, I can have Rama daily, because God gave us memory so that we could have roses in December.

Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with the heart and soul, there is no such thing as separation. ~Rumi

Online Meditation
With so many events happening, presidential change, COVID, travel restrictions, and more, we may think we are powerless. Yes, Mother Teresa says, "I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples." From your own living room, you can call a friend, write a Christmas card, have a zoom lunch, etc. It is a ripple that says, "I care. I am here to make a difference."

In this meditation time, it is about showing up fully present. And, through that, responding to life events: Making a difference one breath at a time.
Look for an email coming with a quick link into the Zoom meeting,

Here is a link to the latest forecast;
below you can read an excerpt.
After the total lunar eclipse at the full Moon of November 29-30, the Moon is waning during the first half of December. On December 14, the Moon and Sun join at 29º Scorpio to complete the eclipse pair with a total solar eclipse. Both Venus and Mercury join Sun and Moon in Scorpio, giving us a quiet moment to turn inward and feel to the depths of our connections.

Just after the new Moon eclipse, the Moon moves to Sagittarius, followed by the Sun on December 15 for his one-month transit. Sagittarius is a relatively protected space at the moment, which could collectively give us some light and guidance as we recover from the eclipse pair, not to mention all of 2020!

Mercury moves to Sagittarius, joining the Sun on December 16, which could give our capacity for analysis, marketing, networking and management a boost.

The big day in December comes at the winter solstice, December 21, which is the day that our two great outer planets that are visible to the eyes, Jupiter and Saturn, make a conjunction in the early part of Capricorn. This type of conjunction happens about every twenty years and may feel like a major re-set in some department of life.

On December 23, Mars moves into his own sign of Aries, creating some powerful momentum for initiation that will carry us into the new calendar year. Aries is relatively free of difficult aspects and equally free of positive aspects, so keep an eye on the fiery power of Mars through January.
2020 comes to an end with a full Moon in the sign of Gemini on December 29, showing some amount of hope and enthusiasm for how to get forward to a new normal. For many, this year has been an unprecedented year of unexpected events, unparalleled suffering and unfathomable loss. To all who are grieving, may the light shine brightly enough to lead you away from dark places and may what you learn from those dark places enrich you as life moves forward.
