March 2023

Dear Residents & Community Members,

As we enter April, we are reminded of two important celebrations that coincidentally go hand in hand: National Volunteer Week and Earth Day. This year's Monroe Clean Sweep will take place on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22nd, and not only provides the perfect opportunity for all of us to do our part in keeping our community clean, but is also an important reminder of the impact we can all make by giving our time. Please see the Monroe Clean Sweep information below and learn how you can sign-up to be part of the solution in keeping our community clean.

This year's National Volunteer Week will take place April 16 - April 22nd. We hope that many of you will take this time to thank a volunteer and/or explore ways in which you can give back to our community. We believe all of our volunteers will attest to the fact that to volunteer is to change a life. We continue to extend our gratitude to all of our local volunteer organizations.

On behalf of the Town Board, best wishes for a joyous Easter and Passover holiday.

Cordially,

Tony Cardone

Supervisor, Town of Monroe

Town of Monroe Highway Superintendent James "Pat" Patterson joined his colleagues at this event, stressing the importance of increased funding at the state level to ensure our local roadway infrastructure needs are addressed. Collectively, the highway superintendents are requesting the upcoming state budget include increasing the CHIPS program by $200 million to $779 million, increasing the Extreme Winter Recovery funding by $70 million to $170 million, continued support for the BRIDGE-NY program at $200 million annually, maintaining support for the PAVE-NY program at $150 million, as well as the continuation of $100 million of annual funding to the State Touring Route program.
