Dear Residents & Community Members,

Memorial Day is upon us and with this day, we call to mind the selfless men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of our freedom. As we honor their memory, please consider attending the Monroe Memorial Day Parade on Sunday, May 28th. Step off from Smith's Clove Park begins at 1:30 p.m. The parade proceeds down Lake Street onto 17M and concludes with a ceremony at the Monroe Cemetery located across from Webster Bank. All veterans and their guests are welcome to attend a barbecue at American Legion Legion Post #488 following the ceremony at the cemetery. We extend a special thank you to the Village of Monroe, American Legion Post #488, American Legion Post #1573, and VFW Lake Region Memorial Post #8858 for their continued efforts in organizing the parade in addition to the countless community organizations, first responders and volunteers who partake in this event year after year.

As we gather this holiday weekend, the unofficial start to the Summer season, let us never forget that "we don't know them all, but we owe them all."

Town of Monroe resident, Dominic Wasto was recognized for his outstanding efforts leading to the achievement of Eagle Scout at a ceremony on Saturday, May 20th. Dominic's Eagle Scout project focused on improvements to Mombasha Park through the construction and installation of guardrails in the parking lot area of both the soccer and baseball field sides of the park. Mombasha Park continues to be an active recreation town property and the improvements Dominic completed through his project will certainly enhance the safety of the parking lot areas for years to come. We thank Dominic for making an impact in the Town of Monroe!
