Dear Residents & Community Members,
It seems that Spring has finally sprung! It's always nice to see our residents and community members out and about enjoying activities and the beauty of our area this time of year. Adding to available activities, we are pleased to announce the opening of the Town of Monroe Dog Park. Located at 101 Mine Road, the Dog Park shares the same entrance as our Senior Center building. This park was made possible because of the outstanding Eagle Scout Project recently completed by Monroe resident Noah Sequeiros.
Noah is a member of Boy Scout Troop 440 and has worked extremely hard over the past year to present, plan and execute his Eagle Scout project of creating a Dog Park for the Town of Monroe community to enjoy. Throughout this time, we witnessed his dedication, hard work, persistence, and ability to “pivot,” when things didn’t quite go as planned. Noah faced any and all project challenges with a maturity and composure far beyond his years. His leadership ability was evident through his oversight of over 100 volunteers who assisted in this project as well as Noah’s incredible project fundraising efforts which resulted in raising over $9,000.
We thank Noah for his efforts and are grateful to reap the benefits of his incredible project which will serve the Town of Monroe community for many years to come. If you haven't already done so, please stop by the new park. Your dog will thank you!
The Town's upcoming Food Truck Festival on June 18th will benefit Troop 440, an outstanding group of young men who continue to make an impact in our community. We hope to see you there.
Looking ahead to this weekend, the Monroe Memorial Day Parade will take place on Sunday, May 29th. Please consider attending to honor the members of our military who died in the line of duty bravely serving our country. The parade will step off from Smith's Clove Park at 1:30 p.m. and conclude with a ceremony at the Monroe Cemetery located on Route 17M (across from Webster Bank).
God Bless the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and the freedom we continue to enjoy and may God Bless America.
Cordially,
Tony Cardone
Supervisor, Town of Monroe
